So i have just recently go ahold of some '97 Verada Alloys which will fit 215/60/16 tyres.
i have rang around done a bit of research, and just wanted to get some opinions on what tyre choice i should go for.
so, here are the choices:
Beaurepairs: Dunlop Sports $150
Tyrepower: Khumo KH-14 $110
Khumo KH-15 $145
The Tyre Factory: Falken ZE912 $130
Seaford Tyre Service: Continental - Sime Astar 300 $125
Williamson Tyreco: Hankook (not sure which one) $138
Bridgestone: ER30's $140
Bob Jane: Yokohama - A-Drive $149
Yokohama - C-drive $160
Michelin (dont kno which one) $155
So im leading towards the Falken ZE912's. opinions?
also if you think there is a better tyer out there, or a better tyre place to go...please im open to options.

The Michelin tyres would be XM1+ (these are a new tread pattern and upgraded compound from the previous Michelin XM1, and the XM1+ are said to be 20% more durable than the previous version).
I got a set from Bob Jane for my KJ last year, and a few months ago put a set on the TJ Sports as well, went with an independent tyre dealer for that set.
I'm very happy with these tyres, they are comfortable and quiet. They are "said" to be low rolling resistence for better economy and silica (or somesuch) in the rubber for durability. I suspect that thay are not the absolute peak of "sporty" in tyres, but they seem capable to me. At the moment I have them inflated to about 36-38 psi, a bit more than what they were set-up with when purchased.

I got those on the exact same rims you got (verada spoked). Chose them over the others you have listed, nice and quiet at highway speeds, grip pretty well for a family hack tyre and well priced, when I got mine in december paid just under $600 for 4. And they have a pretty cool tread pattern as well.

Definitely agree with Elwyn about the Michelins being the pick of that bunch. I'll be putting a set of them in the same size on my KF wagon soon. BTW I ran a set of Falken 912's in 225/45/18 on another car and they were easily the worst tyres I've had in years.

I'm currently running on a set of bridgestone adrenalines, quite grippy even more so than my previous yoko A539's which the C drive replaces. I got them for $170, they say it's a sporty tyre and it's feels safer than some others and after 6 months feels good on all conditions except wet, where i think the A539's are better.

I've got Kumho Solus KH15s. Paid $135/each for the fronts and $155/each for the rears (bought at 2 different places). Quiet, decent amount of grip, progressive at the limit. Sidewalls aren't as stiff as the grey import Bridgestone Playz PZ-1s that were on the front previously. I've put about 10,000kms on the rears and 8,000kms on the fronts, they're fairing very well.

I have the same size tyre, I have recently gone to the Bridgestone ER592 paid $142 a corner. Only from Bridgestone dealers, but a good highway tyre, and in the wet. I wasn't too impressed with the ER30. That's my 2 cents worth :-)

On the 7" rims on my TWII VRX AWD I've liked the original 215/60 Grid IIs and got 40k from them. Tried Yoko C Drives and hated them, Tramlined and skatey in the wet. Got rid of them at 20,000 km as I thought they were dangerous, I'd have got rid of them sooner if it rained more. Would probably have gone 60-70,000 if I'd left them on.
I've subsequently had Marangoni Vanto 225/55 on it and like them a lot. Much quieter then the others, and grip extremely well in all conditions, and very predictable when starting to slide when seriously provoked. Lasted 40,000 km. Couldn't get any more and am now on BS 001 Adrenaline 225/55. I expect these to be good but as yet I've not had them on long enough to form a definitive opinion, 500 km.
My daughter's TJ came fitted with Michelin XM1+ in the standard 15" size and I am impressed with these too. Not a performance tyre, but do nothing wrong, quiet and work in the wet. Dunno about durability yet.

If you have 7" wheels then 225/55 x 16 Maxxis MA-Z1 are hard to beat. Good price if you shop around, excellent in the wet and for wear.
Don't let anyone tell you Z1 are no longer available and Z4 are their new replacement. The Z4 is not as good for handling and was more designed for the American "tyres that last forever" market.
Cheers,
Alan

If purchase decisions were made on a religious basis we wouldn't buy anything. Religion is tied up in everything either as outright owner or major shareholder.
