Looks like a crap idea to me - if it uses SMS, you must have to fling a SIM card into it and keep that topped-up or pay an account fee as if it were a phone.

I'm wondering how this thing goes for signal reception from the phone system, too - no doubt that'll vary depending on where you mount the unit.

Its a fair whack of money to fling at a gizmo from a cheap-sounding E-bay outfit - I'd proceed with caution, if at all. Trying to find out from in here if anyone has it is a good idea, obviously you are wanting to be cautious too.

thats right what it costs is a sms message if you use the same company as your cell can be pretty cheap you can get extended credit which means it lasts for 12 months but your right the reception etc im worried about would be good to have a tracking though ive lost 2 cars before from people stealing them

Sounds like a good idea to me if that's what you're after. Much cheaper than actual satellite tracking. But yes it would be limited to GSM coverage. I''m sure it comes with an antenna you can put any where in the car as it would just run down and connect to the control box. But a cheaper option would be a kill switch in the car there's a recent thread about it somewhere.
