Hi guys,
Need help on this. Not sure as to where the problem lies. Anyway on my way home from work i decided to wind down the window. The window wound down without a problem then decided to wind it up and the window pane stopped half way up and started to make loud clicking sounds from the electric motor or somethnig but it would not go up any further.
Time to replace the electric motor assembly?
Anyone had this problem before? Any help or advise be great.
Cheers.

Search could be your "best friend" on this one!! Not sure I've read posts mentioning the clicking sound before, but there have been several posts about electric window regulators.
Otherwise, you just might have to pop the door trim off the affected door and have yourself a looksee!! Or pay someone in the trade to do this for you.
As far as I know, 3rd Gens (TE-TW) have a cable/drum system of operating the power windows - but you don't actually state which model you have, and I've just read your thread (only) and haven't checked your profile to see what you drive...... its also likely that this will be moved into a section of the forums corresponding to your model car - ie: 2nd gen or 3rd gen, rather than Tech Torque.

Yeah i popped off the door trim to have a look but can't see anything out of the ordinary. So I've pushed it up by hand to fully closed til i can find someone to fix it.
Got a KJ Verada 2001. Series 1. Hope that helps. I think it could be the regulator like you said.
Thanks for the info anyway.

i had the same thing with mine, had to replace the electric motor assy. It was a few years ago now, but from memoy it wasn't "overly" expensive. But i got a mate to do it who had connections at mitsubishi.. Call your dealer and ask for a price, if you're pretty mech savvy it's not too hard to do, but i'd imagine it also wouldnt cost a great deal to install either.

OKies - within the last 2-3wks, there have been (IIRC) at least two threads about 3rd Gen power window regulators. Shouldn't be too hard to find.
In at least one of these threads, the problem was definitely with the cable breaking (electric motor turns a drum, flexible cable is wound around the drum and onto the window-lift slide mechanism).... and there was discussion about whether the cable (only) coould be removed and swapped for good one.
Just had a bit of a thought...... I "think" the electric motor is mounted at right=angle to the drum for reasons of saving space, and possiblely requires a set of gears to change the orientation (and possibly for speed-reduction as well)...... if you have the "clicking' sound, stripped gears could be your problem. One way to check would be to try running the motor and hlding fingers or tip of a screwdriver on the gear-case.... if you feel a percussive feedback as the clicking occurs, you have just isolated your problem. Of course, only try this if you have sussed that this can be done without severing fingers or futher damaging things by jamming a screwdriver in the works. You could then assess whether any of the assembly can be pulled-apart....... I'm just thinking that some members may have burnt-out motors, but useable gears,and........ you take it fro there.
If its a one-go "can't fix" assembly - then you may be in for a shock at Wreckers, and definitely will be at the Spare Parts counter. If you search and find those recent threads, you will find members who have faced similar issues as you do, and will obviously be able to pass-on very recent experience.

I had the same problem with my tj. The cable started to fray, it cost about $300 each (both front windows went at the same time on mine), the mits people should be able to do it quickly, I was going to do it myself but they said it will only take them an hour so I would only be charged 1 hour labour
