I've done a few searches but the information is pretty scattered when it comes to this, a friend of mine has a 6cyl manual TS and a ****ed engine, there is a good chance he will be selling it to me cheeeaaap. Trouble is I have no room nor a way to transport the car to me (without spending more $$) so I was thinking about just stripping the car where it is of the bits I need.

My 4pot TR auto is going strong for the moment but I am planning ahead maybe a dohc conversion one day :P When my astron throws in the towel. So I'd like to get some help and advice on what I would need to take off my mates car.

Let's say I get a 3.5l like tuff :P, what would I need to strip from my mates TS to do a majority of the conversion, I'm looking for a pretty specific list, like apart from things like the gb itself and the passenger side engine mount, pedal, gearstick etc. What levers, cables, wiring? CV joints, shafts etc etc would I need??

I know it might be easier to get a V6 and work it (I woudn't use my mates TS for that, body has taken down roo's like solders in iraq) but my TR body is in great condition and when my astron blows, it would be perfect :D and I think would be an fun project!

TIA guys

Front suspension....inc disc's backing plates calipers? shafts etc....
ECU , for engine and gearbox.

im not an expert but would say call it a day and look for a new one, the work needed is heaps.(unless you have a work shop!)

my car is sweet body and would hate to see it go but if i was after a verada etc it would work out cheaper to find one in good nick.
there out there just have a good look. as your is in good nick you'll get good money for it, then upgrade.

i might sound a bit negative but been there done that and it will cost more than what a good version of what you want is worth even with free parts.
if you wanted to use a dohc motor well thats different as there not available here...and would be a different story!

Back to you main question swap the whole front end! wires , mounts, gearbox ...the whole lot. Dont forget the exhaust system.

a/c will need new pipes as well. including P/S lines.

i'm happy to make a detailed list as best i know but its a big job just because your shell is sweet.

all the best.

if im wrong in any way let me know as this is just as point of view.

Yeah I may end up just getting a v6 TS in good nick when the time comes but it can't hurt getting all the necessary bits while I have the chance aye :D Then whatever I end up doing, 4cyl/cheap v6 auto to 6g72/74 manual, I'll have most of the parts.

I was thinking about this too (would sure be nice) .. but I figured it probably wasn't worth it.
