Currently at work and on the phone, so excuse me if my post is a little vague. I'd search, but being on the phone this is also quite difficult and rarely works as it should.

We stock Denso and NGK spark plugs, so I figured I'd grab a set for my KR (3.0L V6). The parts catalogue specifies W20EXU-11 plugs, with a 1.1mm gap for the 6G72 engine. Unfortunately we've run out and will not be reordering these plugs.

The head parts interpreter insists W20EXU plugs are exactly the same and will work fine in my engine. I have checked this myself and the plugs, according to NGK and Denso, are exactly the same with the exception of the gap. W20EXU's have a 0.8mm gap, while W20EXU11's have a 1.1mm gap.

Should I still grab the W20EXU's regardless? Or should I stick it out and get the W20EXU11's? I won't be out of pocket either way, but I still won't get them if they compromise ride comfort, engine performance or overall reliability.

Cheers
- Michael

Your guy is both right and wrong. As you noticed they are identical in reach thread etc all except for the side electrode which is taller(longer) on the -11 variant hence the 1.1mm pre gap. The only problem you may have is when you set the others to 1.1mm they may either break or worse form a hairline fracture and then fail in car. All manufactures make their pre gap plugs with extra length on that outer electrode so it can be pre formed to suit. I have used non gapped as a temporary fix but only till I could get the right ones.By the way am talking from plenty of experience (over 15 years in retail/wholesale aftermarket spares)
