The radio security code that came with your car when you purchased it. It'll ask you for it each time you disconnect the battery.

it means you need to enter the security code... normally a four digit number....

For future reference:

Philips AM/FM Stereo Electronic Tuner (Radio/Cassette)

1. When the unit displays CODE, press 1.
2. Using the << and >> buttons, scroll to the correct number. Press 1 to confirm the first digit.
3. Using the << and >> buttons, scroll to the correct number. Press 1 to confirm the second digit.
4. Using the << and >> buttons, scroll to the correct number. Press 1 to confirm the third digit.
5. Using the << and >> buttons, scroll to the correct number. Press 1 to confirm the fourth digit.
6. If the number is correct, you will hear a confirmation beep and the unit will activate.

If the number was incorrect, the unit will flash "ERR" on the display. You must wait before another code can be entered. The radio will refuse all codes during this waiting period, including the correct code. Do not switch off the unit during this time or the waiting time will be reset. When the time has elapsed, the unit will once again display CODE and allow you to re-enter the correct code.

Just note that if you enter an incorrect code again, the waiting time is doubled and continues to double for each incorrect code entered.

The dealer will usually have written the radio code on the inside of the front cover of the owners manual.
