My version of the video. Includes the smokey first startup.
$90 Junkyard Runs 11's on first pass- Video
Ondonti's 11.95 pass- Video
So after I had some plugs come apart last year that 4 months later I found out damaged my combustion chambers (thinking about a partial fill on the heads too) and I had a junkyard 1997 caravan sohc sitting in my driveway. The 1996+ caravan 6g72's are 9.3:1 compression with the same cams.
I swapped my intake manifold, valve covers, oil pan, turbo setup to the junkyard motor. Got it running on gas and then converted to E85.
I cant run as much boost as I did on the dyno before so i figured with 2100cc's of meth, and e85 needing 30% more fuel flow, I would reduce my boost by about 20% (1/3 my hp comes from meth). This made me feel pretty dang safe on the e85.
I also drove the car a lot harder and this stock heads/cams/compression motor has a lot more power in the lower rpms so I dont bog on shifts. I still have a lot of work to do on driving. I nailed the 1-2 but my 3-4 was a no throttle grandma shift where I got nervous and sorta forgot what i was doing. Hurt my 1/8th and 1/4 traps but not so much the E.T. Its a lot of fun and I don't worry about an expensive motor! I still need the driver mod but I did knock off .8 seconds with basically just a better 1-2 shift (same 60')
This is all with methanol and a rising rate regulator. ECU has no idea what boost is. My megasquirt is currently getting fixed by someone who recently megasquirted their sohc 6g72 (and found a bad injector driver). Luckily he is a professional electronics guy and DIYautotune released the install guide for all SOHC 6g72's (I think the Montero guys are running it already).
So in the future I can get more fuel flow from not needing the rising rate regulator and I am thinking about an inline walbro which will definitly help even while still on the rising rate regulator (though not upgrading the tiny 5/16" lines yet).
I am trying to be very safe, stock 12 degrees of base timing on e85, just seeing how far the motor can go before the top rings butt and I pop a ringland. I dont know if the top ring gaps are larger on the 1996+ caravan motors. My friend who builds crazy 2jz's says he thinks the e85 will allow a lot more boost before the rings expand too much because of how much cooler it runs.
I finally surpassed the quickest (12.6) 3.0 documented and also eclipsed an undocumented car that ran low 12's on some weird Shelby built prototype motor and 20+ pounds of race gas fury.
I followed Ray's advice and took out my 8lb aluminum flywheel and am using an 18 lb stock chrysler flywheel. I also have the good chrysler harmonic balancer on. Trying to be more respectful of the cast crank.

I think the SRT4 was pissssed. We got the same exact reaction time, I killed him on the 60', he gained a little from superior driving, and then I walked away when i finally figured out the 4th gear shift I bet he thought he was going to walk past at the 1/8th. Probably only gained cause I wasn't in gear for a bit. Darned good drag race! My best ever.
He is stage 3 + toys but the 4400' elevation here is nasty on the stage 3 turbo.
Its a 6G72 in an old junkyard piece of crap, no dash, no interior, rusted and faded paint, different panels, runs an 11sec 1/4 anyone say sleeper?
Oh and thats on stock cams, heads, and bottom end!
WTF!!!
