Hi everyone, long time reader but first post so please be gentle :-)

Looking at replacing my standard 16x6 rims, have done a bit of research, but to be honest it confusesout of me! Think I am looking for 5 X 114.3 (that the hole spacing?.). Looking to get some 2nd hand 17" rims, found these for sale http://www.boostcruising.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=414321.

"Item: Hyperblack Staggered fitment 17x7.5 +45 and 17x8+38 rear comes with 32mm dish" - what do the +45 and +38 bit mean?
Will these fit, or what should I be looking for. Not looking for anything that would rub or be illegal in QLD.

Anyhelp would be appreciated

The +45 and +38 refers to the offset, or how far in/out the wheel sticks.

My stock Magna rims are 7" wide and +46 offset. I can't comment from experience, but those rims should fit.

I couldn't tell what the PCD of these wheels were ..... that's something your going to have to ask. I'd get em fitted before handing over any cash.....if you can. Nice price for what looks like a very nice set of rims.

Thanks guys. Was a bit confused by the offset bit, but if others have these kind of offsets without any problems, all good. Have checked the manufacturers website for these rims but they dont list that particular size?! So will probably have to go and see if they will fit - hope so. Need new tyres, so if can get a nice set of 17" rims as well - bargain!

I'm running the same sort of offsets on my AWD, except it's +37 on the front and +45 on the rear. They will fit, but I'm not too sure how good it will be having staggered offsets and widths on the AWD magna... All my rims are 8" wide, so mine is only different in offset. I still would like to get matching offsets for the rear though so I have +37 all round. So in short, these rims will fit, but I recommend finding a set of wheels larger than 17" (18's minimum), that have the same width and same offset for front and rear.

Still not sure if PCD is right, the guy will ring me tomorrow so will find out then. If I had plenty of $ then might consider 18" rims, not keen on the rubber band tyres though - my old butt couldn't handle all the bumps!. Plus, for the price they come with good tyres, so fits my Kevin Rudd budget!

In the add he says "17x7.5 +45 and 17x8+38 rear comes with 32mm dish" - whats the 32mm dish? Read on the AMC wiki http://www.wermspowke.net/wiki/index.php/Wheels
- "(f) Spacers are not permitted between the hub and wheel (unless originally fitted by the manufacturer)" - is this the same thing? Will I have legal/insurance probs doing this?

Lots of newbie questions, but if you don't ask then will never know anything

The dish isn't illegal at all. That's how deep the wheel 'face' will sit in from the edge of the rim, if you can understand that?

If you look at the picture of the sellers car, look closer at the two wheels & you'll see the difference.

It'll look good on a AWD too, I reckon.
