they never worked and yesterday i finally saw that it was because the connector on the trans had been damaged. i replaced it and there's still a problem.

they dont work at all 80% of the time. the rest they'll only work when i hold the gear stick in a position that is just before the gear is engaged. even then its not a good connection. one is dull and the other is sort of randomly pulsing.

as soon as i put the gearstick in the proper position, the lights go out and it takes ages of fiddling to get them back again. still with the same bad connection/position.

does anyone know of a way to fix this.

thanks.

how was the connector damaged exactly? did you change the connector only or did you swap the entire reverse light switch? If you only replaced the connector chances are the switch it buggered.

the damage was that one of the wires had snapped off right on top of the connector. i went to u-pull-it and got another connector. is the switch the complete and large nut, or just the plastic pice on top of it?

The switch is the whole thing, one piece connector and nut. Not in very tight, put a spanner or monkey wrench on it and it should loosen easily. Has a washer under it. I replaced the clutch in mine and the switch was damaged when taking the box out - normally there isn't much that can damage it, being so well out of the way.

i bought one from upullit. all good now. one side is still a lot duller than the other. both globes are equally bright when checked out of the lens assembly and both lenses appear to be clear and clean.
