hi this has been covered heaps but i cant really find what im after.
What is the biggest factory rim for a ts! i believe its a 15inch
you can go 2 inch bigger by vic roads so thats 17 inch rim..
i would like to try an 18 max, more for looks etc.
has this body come with a 16 factory anyware in the world. if so great!
then i would need a tire placard to suit eg just grab one off a newer model and glue on. this is the semi legal way to cover my ass but can larger wheels be engineered for a small cost?
never used an engineer before so i have no ideal!
Im in vic and i believe in some other states they only state the rolling diameter max change allowable witch would be close to what i want but in vic there a bit different.

vic no longer has the 2inch rule, you can hav as big as you like but the rolling diameter cant change by a certain amount, i think its 20mm
Its more so that the track can't change by more than 1" (25mm) which means the offset can't change by more than 0.5" (12.5mm). This limits the width of wheels you can have which in turn limits the diameter of wheels you can have (cheaply). Bear in mind that no portion of the tyre tread can be visible from the top of the wheel arch (that is they cannot protrude the guard.

ok cool
Knew the tire cant stick out and have seen many cars doing this and i think it looks crap. thanks for the info.
cant find the link on vic roads for the over all diameter? as this rule would be more suitable for me.
im a victorian!

the rule that applies is +16mm rolling diamter and -22mm rolling diamter of stock. You can run 20's if you can find a very very very low profile tyre.
Anymore that these amounts (+16,-22) greatly reduce the speedometers accuracey, but as you can notice having wheels smaller then stock isnt as bit of a concern, if any, just means you are physically driving slower then the speedo is telling you (not a bad thing)
If those rules apply to you then thats what you should follow. Also bear in mind the offset limit difference of 12mm. Ultimately its rear that any fuss is made of this provided the wheels tuck under the gaurds from the top down and you dont have wheels that look illegally big to bring focus too them.
Ive got 18's on my KR, if you are going for looks, get bigger and lower it as much as you can, but if you want to retain some comfort i strognly suggest 17's hahaha

One area to check with also, is your Insurance company. Mine said that if I fitted anything over 17" I would be null and void for insurance purposes.
I run 17x 8 ROH somethings with 225/45 on king lows on a TS Wagon (similar to your Avatar) and they are plenty big enough.

The 2 + 2 rule has not applied for a fair while now.
Here is the link to what you are chasing at Vic Roads:
http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/Home/RulesStandardsRegulations/VehicleStandardsInformation/
Document No:8 - Modifications Guide
In summary:
Rim cannot be more than 25mm wider than standard rim (thats 1 inch).
Overall diameter cannot be more than 15mm more than standard diameter.
Track can be increased by up to 25mm.
So you can easily go 20 inch rim with low profile tyre.
My insurance (GIO) told me that as long as it complies with the above, I'm covered.
If they say otherwise, change insurance company.

as a note im with GIO and very happy as they insure my stereo and ad on's, its a bit dearer but i have piece of mind.
cheers and any info on diameters would be good.

17s on 225/45 are very close to stock rolling diameter, i think

that is in qld

vic and all other states except qld are +15/-15mm

I can tell you mate, 3rd gen wheels/tyres are bigger than the std 15'. I have the TF sports rims and they're larger than my 15's and im looking for a place to recailbrate speedo.

That is because your 15" wheels came with 205/65R15 with an OD of 647.5mm and the TF Sports came with 16" wheels with 215/60R16 with an OD of 664.4mm. That is 16.9 mm bigger which makes it illegal. You can however, change the tyres to suit. 205/60R16 tyres (slightly bigger OD) or 215/55R16 tyres (slightly bigger OD). I won't go any bigger than 215 wide as the 16" wheels are only 6" wide and I found my OEM 215/60R16 tyres sagged too much.

...which is why im looking for a place to recailbrate my speedo. it'll be cheaper than change four almost brand new tyre;)

even if you do get your speedo recalibrated your wheels will still be illegal till you get an engineers cert.
so if you do change your tires i would go with the 205/60R16's because your speedo would only be under 100km by .8km so if the needle is sitting on 100km you will be doing 99.2km.
where as the 205/55R16's are illegal by.75mm and your speedo would be over 100km by 2km so if the needle is sitting on 100km you will be doing 102km.
i know .75mm doesn't sound like much but neither does 1.77mm
