hmm, wouldnt a magna/verada one be alot cheaper, as you dont need to get it send over from NZ or Japan??

Verada/magna one's are pressed into the roof from factory rather then cut out like Aurion's, camry's or aftermarket sunroofs.

Why would you get a diamante one? Magna ones are exactly the same. You'll need to cut the roof off and transfer the whole roof skin over, get it patched up and resprayed. That's going off what Madmagna says.

IMO, I wouldn't really bother.

Can it be done? Yes. Is it worth it? No.

There was a KS xi with sunroof at Blacktown last year sometime........we thought about cutting it out...

But for the cost (and getting it installed could cost you up to $500-1000 im guessing) - after buying the damn thing you gotto ask yourself is it worth spending that much on a car worth a couple of 1000 (if that)

Edit: I dont wanna sound like a nay-sayer...... i am making a verada into a trailer lol. By all means get the costs worked out, but think about what its worth to you to have it done

ok let's sum it up!

i all most got an electric roof from pick a part from a ks verada wagon.(touring wagon")

it was $118 dollars from the board but the roof lining needs changing, it needs wires to work, easy done.lol

now to install it the roof has to be cut and trimmed to suit ....big dollars hence why i left it alone.

for all the work involved why bother, and i love sunroofs but only at a good price.

check out aftermarket roofs as there very good. about $2500 fitted inc roof trim to suit , full elec etc

Second Gen did not come with factory roof, even the few Verada's that came out of Adelaide (mine was one) that did have factory fitted roof were actually fitted post assembly of the car in the factory.

There is no such thing as a rolled second gen roof.

If you really want one and can not find one in the wreckers, then be prepared to pay $2500+ for one

The way to tell is look for the black lip around the edge of the hole, this is for strength in place of the lip roll

Can't remember about the Aussie 2nd gen, saw 300 a day for 3 years lol, but we sent ship loads with sunrooves overseas......alot of the Diamante wagons, i'd say 80% had sun rooves.

KrazyKR has one, not sure if factory.

For installation, I was quoted $500 by BRB Smash Repairs in Auburn to have my sunroof installed into my old car.
I didn't end up doing it as I sold the sunroof to a member here a while ago.

edit: i think mine is factory, it has a sticker saying Skytop sunroofs etc. fitted july 91. that was when my car was built too...

I thought on xi's they were options? One I seen at the wreckers was a hollandia (i know they do make aftermarket ones) but how do you know one is "factory" or not?

I Got the PIC for sunroof... This bloke is ready to ship - 3 in stock.. Includes all the fittings required to install Sunroof.
If its like 500 AUD to install - I would rather go ahead - 1000 hmm not bad for the love of it !!!!!

I have been to 3/4 wreckers - none of them have it. Also, Time to take the sunroof out etc - better to pay some extra and get it delivered ?

Lol well just wait until one pops up, sounds really stupid to me to get a whole sunroof imported when they can be found locally. thats like me buying a diamante bonnet from the US.

it takes then 10 minutes to take the sunroof out. usually, they will just give you the whole roof which involves an extension cord and an angle grinder.
I really should of gotten that roof when i had the chance :(

Nah I'm good. When one pops up for $140 for the whole roof I'm just going to take that. Much easier.
Funny how I pay $30US for postage on a 1g brochure but a 40kg sunroof is only $100AU postage, wtf.

They may have been used different suppliers, but sunrooves WERE INSTALLED in the factory. I know cause i metal finished them.
