Hello, I had a low impact prang in my once very straight and immaculate Elite. The bumper is pushed in and my right rear tail light lens is cracked and needs replacing. Could any one of you good folks here tell me whether the Elite tail lights are different to other 86 models? I am in Perth and looking desparately for the part.

I have a friend coming over with his pneumatic tool that will push out the tail gate. The boot lid is un harmed and the its just the tail gate just needs straightenning and then replacing of lens unit.

I am hoping with the help of our warm sun and some other heat we will be able to straighten the bumper but I am only hopeful here.

Appreciate any advice here

in regards to the rear bumper. there is a metal bracket supporting the bumper. it is likely that this is bent. if you take the bumper off and straighten the bracket the bumper should pop back into shape, depending on the extent of the damage.

the tail lights are the same in all first gens. TM, TN and TP. 1985 through to 1990

When I was in crash repair trade, we found that if you apply heat to the bar (plastic) from the inside with a hot air gun (Paint remover thingy), that the plastic has a memory and will return to its original state if done asap after incident. If the reo is bent (steel thingy behind plastic thingy), it will only cause the plastic bumper to distort again.
Putting heat on the inside has two advantages, 1) no paint damage and 2) if you apply any pressure, the heated plastic may be soft and you could leave either a fingrer print or tool print embedded into it.
The longer it is left, the more you will have to coax it into shape.

Yeah I am 99% sure that the tail lights are the same whether you have elite or SE/GLX. Seeing as I had an 86 Elite I should know:P

(those are Elite tail lights, pretty sure there the same as any other)

i think tms have chrome around the outside as in a strip, can just make it out on the above photo whereas the later ones dont... but as has been mnetioned, any and all will fit.

Also TP tail lights have the reflectors in a different spot to make way for the striping trim.

so if you wanted a perfect factory look go tm, any variant. if it doesnt matter, any :)
