Just removed my wing and im looking for some suggestions on plugging the holes.
Its only a trial while im deciding whether to do the job or not.
Checked the auto shops and couldn't find anything suitable.
What i had imagined was some kind of two piece plug that is threaded with a nut on the back or something, im going to paint the head with some body colour i have left in a pressure pack aswell so they dont stand out too much.
Anyone got any suggestions? what have other people used?

Use your generic X-mas tree clips you will find on the "champion stands" located at supercheap, autobarn, or repco. They will plug the hole and come in a generic black white or grey color.
Or for about $150-$200 get the holes plugged up by a pro and the boot repainted ;) ORRRR Just keep your eyes out for a spare bootlid without a wing in your color.

I think some type of rubber grommet would be your best bet. That way it will be somewhat waterproof as well.

I didnt think those tree clips would be sufficiant, i guess they might work if the fit is tight enough. Few different sizes though, 8mm, 10mm and 16mm i think.
Oh and like i said its only a trial so if i decide to lose the wing i will be getting them welded or chasing another TJ lid.

Tried a bunch of rubber grommets at the auto shop, couldn't get the right sizes.

:stoopid: yep, thats what i got when i removed my spoiler worked a treat
got mine from repco on the stand with all the screws and stuff
they only come in black so you'll ne to paint them the colour of your car so they dont stand out as much
also you need to measure from the inside or the gorment to make sure it'll fit
ones i got was the 1/2" and i think 3/4", cant remember the smaller one as i cant find the packet

Maybe someone else will have a larger range of the rubber grommets.
Cant see paint working too well though, considering its soft rubber and you have to flex them quite a bit to get them in.

you'll need to paint them when there are in the holes

Something as neat as this would be good

Use epoxy glue to put $1 coins over the holes. Looks REAL cool!
No, honestly - welding or body filler and some primer/paint is the only permanent cure, other than another lid in the same colour.

electrical tape?

Temp fix? Just use a smallish piece of masking tape, cut about 1 cm bigger than the holes. Keeps water out, but hardens after a few months and needs turps to clean up properly.

Most places will charge 300-350ish to repair and respray a boot, if you know a decent painter you can get it for that price though... Mine was 150, but I had to wait a couple months.

going of madmax's idea about masking tape, as your car is silver how about Duct tape?
MadMax

Duct tape or leccy tape tends to let go in the heat - glue slides as the plastic shrinks. Won't work.
Will work if you keep an eye on it and redo it when it lets go. Silver duct tape on a silver car would look good, at least.
Davo!

I took the wing off my old TH. Just put rubber grommets in there that i got from bunnings (same as the ones you can get at supercheap and other autoparts storess etc). At first they looked WAY to big but after a few sore fingers, a flatblade screwdriver and some cursing it worked great!
