how do you go about draining the powersteering oil out of the whole system
without letting the pump and rack dry by running the motor
it is for a TS second gen
do you turn the pump by hand or drop off the hoses and let gravity work
cant see anything on the rack to undo like a drain

Ray,
Any form of banjo fitting that you can undo? I would assume with the car off your going to have to try by hand, other than that, you will have to start her up and just run her dry. I know its not the best, but you can try and be quick about it...

Why do you want to drain the oil? Is it a required service item? You could undo one of the pipes on the steering rack and drain it that way.

I would have thought just draining the resevoir would have been okay? bit like an oil change, you dont get 100% of the old oil out but its good enough?

haha at work a power steer flush is a two minute job. we get a brake fluid sucker, suck fluid out of the reservoir, then top the reservoir back up.
one thing to note, though. once youve topped it up, turn the wheel lock to lock then check the level.

If its an auto though you have power steering fluid going as far forward as the radiator, all of which the pipes will still have fluid in, id undo the fitting at the rack and let it *also* drain from there.
