Hi Guys,

First off I would like to say that I have been lurking these forums a fair while now deciding weather I should get a 380. The good news is I bought a 2005 380 VRX last Friday, your positive comments about this car definately made it an easy choice :D The car is absolutely brilliant! It has to be one of the best cars I have ever driven. Its a shame MMAL dont make them anymore...if only people new how good of car it is.

Got a few questions:
The galant air intake--has anyone received the intake from the new supplier yet?
The berklee muffler--how loud is the exhaust and is there any noticable improvement without the galant air intake?
Has anyone bought the ipod compatibly headunit from the US galant? If so, how much?
Has anyone fiitted a S3 vrx front bumper to a S1 vrx, and how much?

Thanks for all your help guys! I am looking forward to the next meet in SA :D

Cheers

Hi and welcome aboard. Good to see another 380 around.
I can certainly answer the muffler question, as that's the exact one I fitted to mine. It is a little bit louder than the standard muffler (though my standard muffler had an okay tiny note to it too), but definately not too loud. The note is fairly nice and deep when the foot goes down, but it quite quiet at idle. (If that's what you're after go for it).
There is definately more gain to be had by combining this mod with the Galant intake and K&N panel filter. But the muffler alone is still not bad going.
EDIT: My first mod was the muffler, and I found it to be okay by itself - but its better with the other mods too.

Braedz,

I can answer one of your questions - the Berklee muffler noise.

It's not at all loud, just a nice growl when you plant it, I guarantee you'll be happy with it.

Don't know for sure about performance improvement without the Galant 90mm intake, as I got the intake first & the muffler second, but from all reports it should be worth around 10 to 15kw atw, seeing as the stock muffler is quite restrictive.

Also, I'm getting extractors & dual exhausts soonish (when RPW get off their rear end and ship the extractors to me), and I'll then have a low ks bolt up straight swap Berklee BS0655 with 3" stainless steel dual skin tip for sale.

Just keep an eye out on the For Sale thread.

KJ.

i can answer one too, you dont need to change the front bar to a series 3, they are the same, its the lower grill insert that is different, and will set you back around $550 - $600 smackeronies, just for that little bit

as others have said when you put your foot down it sounds nice but if you want something that sounds aggressive and stands out don't go for it. All of us have been happy with it though!

Cheers KJ380, I might wait around until you get your exhaust replaced. I will be keeping a close eye on the for sale thread...

Ouch..S3 grill sounds rather expensive

Cool

Does anyone know what the stock dyno output is for the 380 and what is the RMS on the VRX head unit?

Also, how hard is it to replace the 6x9s in the parcel shelf?

Cheers

Rear Speakers

Pull covers off (only clipped on. Can be pushed out from inside the boot if a little tight)

Undo 4 screws

Disconnect wiring.

New speakers will require minor work to adapt speaker wires to new connectors

No, there is no dyno record for that; that is, nobody has done a non-modified 380 dyno run here. Those of us who have had their 380s on a dyno have only done it after one or two mods, not before. I too put the call out ages ago for someone with a stock-380 to do the power run. If you're considering some decent mods, it would be a good idea (at least for yourself, not to mention others) to put the car on a dyno.
