Hey all.
I've recently noticed that when I have my normal driving lights on, the high beam bulbs turn on also, however not at full brightness, but rather as bright as parkers. Its a bit weird.
I attached a photo that kinda shows what i meant.
Has anyone have this problem before? It annoys the hell out of me.

I dare say you have lost an earth and/or are getting feedback on the high beam circuit from another source,these magna`s are are buggers with the headlight circuits as they use positive swiching through the switch etc for one light circuit,yet normal negative switching on fog light circuits etc,take to a sparky if not competent with a test light or diagnostics is my recommendation!

headlight earthing.... should be on the engine bay side wall near the headlights .... or you got burnt headlight plugs

I actually noticed tonight that when I unplug the left bulb, the issue disappears. The plug looks ok though. Not sure what the hell is going on.

Replace the bulb?

sorry bum steer on earths... your left headlight has a bad earth and is back feeding into the highbeam circuit via the globe... the earths are provided by the dip switch so you need to check the red/white wire on the left headlight for a good earth and if it is good then replace the globe... if not then check the same wire on the back of the dip switch... it is more likely to be the dip switch has wear or is burnt out

Isnt that what i said? :ninja:

you said that the positively switch and that the fog lights negatively switch
where infact the parklight/headlight low,headlight high, and fog light relay are all negative switched
the relays supply power to the globes... the parklight relay also supply's the foglight relay coil
the parkers and fogs are supplied a constant earth
and the headlight earths are mechanically switched via the headlight dip switch
... trust me its what i do for a living

My mistake,Could be round the other way from memory like you have written,i fitted additional relays to each circuit in my TW VRX a whiule back so i could run overwatt bulbs and found it to be a PITA,due to its different (to what im used to) switching circuits
While your at it and on the subject,any chance of a diagram on how to get the factory fog lights to come on with the high beams,yet also able to switch from the factory dash switch while in non high beam situations,i did get it to work for a small time before i burnt out the relay contacts,im thinking a diode or something is needed?
Cheers

so you want the fogs to come on unswitched with the high beams... yet swiched on low beam/parkers?

Thats it mate,i got it to work for a short while by using another relay etc then it stopped working when dipping to high beam,yet still worked from the fog light switch like normal

easiest way is to run a relay across the high beam circuit so it switches the fog lights on by either earthing the red/blue wire on the fog light relay or by supplying the foglights with either a new fuse off the battery, or in parallel with the fog light relay
neatest way would be to intercept the wiring on the dash loom running the relay coil across the high beam indicator light and earthing out the fog light switch wire
relay pins
85 = Red on dash loom... or headlight switch
86 = Yellow/Red on dash loom
87 = Earth... or connect to 85
30 = Red/Blue on headlight switch
Red= High beam earth
Yellow/Red = high beam +
Red/Blue = Fog light relay coil switching earth
