Was getting my daughter's TE ready for a roadworthy and had to replace the headlining that was falling down.
Budget was a bit tight, so I thought I'd have a go...
Went to Clark rubber and bought to see if they had foam backed fabric. None. Ended up buying 2 metres of boot liner. Is black with white/grey speckles through it and a can of spray contact adhesive.
Took the headliner out, took me about 1/2 hour and stripped the old foam off, just use a rag/gloved hand and get it clean.
Laid out the new liner and folded it back halfway and sprayed the glue on both board and fabric, stuck it down and worked it into the contours. When that was OK, I did the same to the other half.
Got some sharp scissors and cut the edges to size and cut out the holes. Don't forget the front and rear ends fold over the edge and around the other side.
Job done, I put it back in. Again not a difficult task. Just remember to handle the plastic trims gently.
My daughter loves it, reckons it looks better than the original.
Total cost - $55. Job took about 2-3 hours.
I wouldn't use fabric unless it has a foam backing to make it a little stiff, straight fabric would be too hard to glue down without wrinkling.
I've never done anything like this before, and I reckon it was dead easy.
