That's not nice to pick on MrAltera96's grammar, its not his fault he was taught how to write on a Nokia.

On the serious side, I had the same issue which has completely disappeared when I changed the transmission fluid. I got smoother up and down gear changes.

Good Morning Gents,
I think i have a problem with my transmission. I have recently installed a low k second hand motor and it it seems to be running a lot better. The issue seems to be that when i exceed 60km/h then proceed to slow down, the transmission will change down automatically. But as i approach stopping, it seems to jerk just as the car stops. Its quite noticeable, and only happens in D, not in L, 2 or 3.

Do you fine upstanding citizens have any idea what maybe causing this issue?

:bowrofl:

My car used to do that. All it ended up being was the way the transmission had learned to shift. Just disconnect the battery for 10 seconds or so then reconnect and follow the below steps:

Check your transmission fluids as well, if its not a red colour you should look into getting the transmission flushed as well, that won't help the situation.

Cheers.

Just blame his English teacher when he was at Skool - anyhow, I understood what he meant - and my answer - to check TPS setting - still applies. Simplest and easiest place to start.

I've had that one for a long time after someone on here sent it to me once to help out. Its in the mitsu pdf's you can download from memory. What were you after?

Oh and guys who cares how he worded his post, we knew what he meant thats all that matters, lets not have an argument over it. Help if you can otherwise just leave it alone.

the majority of people our age write like that... i handed up a group assignment last week and it was unbelievable how many words were replaced with text message slang... took me hours to make it good! :(

oh and lugo, is that similar to the process where people say "idle in 5 mins in P, P with air-con, D, D with air-con"? a few people have said that is how your ECU relearns... should I use your above technique instead?

Any thing about setting Idle after ECU reset, kinda need it in print, I would say prayers to your god for you for a year if you had that.....

Thats a new one to me, I'd be far more inclined to follow Mitsubishi's recommendation than someones random discovery in their car. The best results I've achieved (a very noticable difference) was following the mitsu steps I posted.

I'll see what I can find Shoot, but I've never had an idle issue when I followed the step's posted before. Its when I hadn't taught the tranny properly I used to get a fluctuating idle that was generally rough when stationary.

Edit: Nothing in particular I can find thats ECU related or idle related as far as setting the idle goes. I reckon give the shifting and flaring instructions posted a go, and see how she idles after that.

If I ever had a low or high Idle, I'd just reset the ecu, and let her idle for 10 mins or so. That sequence just might beat the boredom while it being done.

I have a similar problem. When I'm slowing down. It makes a massive thud. An you can feel it. I always thought possibly it was a mount somewhere i've been told the tranny mount is the weakest.

Same deal, just follow the steps posted previously, should solve your issue if you follow the steps exactly.

I find it easier to do at night, less traffic around, but don't forget you need to leave the car to warm up a bit longer in the cold night air to get the trans up to temp.

I'll give that a try! theres no risk of damaging my car resetting it is there?

Nah none at all, just like resetting an electric clock by unplugging it from the wall. No risk from unplugging it just need to set the time again, or in this instance teach it shifting, which it will do just from you driving it, just won't be as smooth as if you taught it properly.

i tryed from standing start from "L" and then got to about 3k revs and then changed in into "2nd" and also again got to another 3k revs and changed it into "Drive". same procedure changing when slowing but the opisite, It didnt work for me that day but i did that about 3 days and now i havnt got the thud or jerking any more when i slow or accelerate.

but i still need to change my tranny oil with filter and gasket which will be done on wednesday.

So guys give that one a try, just another option you guys could use to hopefully solve the problem.
