took my car in to the mechanic today. for a fair while ive had a rattle between 800rpm-1300rpm, and when i hit anything over 110km/h the car starts shaking...

SO

took it in and when i got down there tonight to pick it up, they guy said they found the rattle. apparently the mounts at the front of my engine (left side of engine bay if youre lookin under the bonnet) were loose and about to fall off... so had i left it much longer, woulda been draggin my 3.5 down the highway...

long story short.. theres no rattle, no vibration and no shaking anymore... and one happy and lucky magna owner.

was it the rubber that had torn? or the bolts actually securing the car to the frame?

AFAIK it was the bolts.

Didn't do a DIY engine mount and forget to secure it properly did you?

Id say the previous owner or mech or panel beater didn't tighten to spec.

very rare problem but im glad you are happy now.

Such a small problem can make the car a pain to live with.

All the best.
