I spoke to a guy who is willing to do my exhaust system. He said the Pacemakers are hard to install on the 3.5l engines and that due to labour its gonna be a little expensive. For pacemakers, high flow cat and a high flow muffler - about $1500.
Does that sound a little steep to you guys???

It does to me...

Pacemakers are like what... 350AUD?
H/F Cat - What brand? MagnaFlow is around 250AUD Tops
Muffler - Again, What Brand? MagnaFlow again :P 300 Tops for a single outlet...

Total say 900... labour is another 600??? now that is expensive...

Hope it helps... but maybe ask him about the brands for the cat and the muffler first :)

get the extractors and muffler only, unless you're going turbo, the Hi Flo CAT won't make much difference. The price of the CAT could be used as your labour already.

I got a question for you Verada man, does your front brakes come with twin piston or single?

Love to see his answer too but I'm pretty sure it's single. The Veradas that had twin piston are from the 2nd gen but not all of them scored them.

Mmmmh, sounds bit on the expensive side. One place in Sydney sells/installs Pace headers, he said 850-900. Get stock Cat, bolt it on your self (cost less than 200). Unless u wanna get nice stainless XForce - which are universal and has to be welded (labor cost), get one of those boring (sorry...) looking boltable Lukeys (save in labour).
But your quote sounds bit high, I reckon. What about the resonators there - they could be rusty and require replacements too.....

Too expensive, go somewhere else. Where I got my exhaust done has done the 3.5's before and they didn't have that many problems.

It was fiddly work..but nothing that bad.

Apparently the 3.0l and 3.5l pacemakers are the same.

if its just for fitting of the pacemakers then you're gettin rolled! mine cost $280 for pacemakers and Midas mufflers fit them for me for $120-130 bucks. it aint really that complicated but there is a bit of fiddlyness involved, ask MadMagna.

Dump the Pacemakers altogether.
Go the RPW design. There is a place in Penrith NSW that will install RPW extractors for $600 total.
Whitedevil is right when he says get the extractors and muffler only, the CAT wont make a difference.

Install them for 600???

That doesnt include the purchase price which is what, 6-800 bucks?

so 12-1400 bucks just for extractors?? That's worse than what he was quoted to start off with.

The pacemakers are a great design anyway, no need to go to a more expensive product for the same result.

The cat will only make a difference if it's clogged.

maybe i should just throw in a Mivec and be done with it! Then at least it will all be factory.

I was quoted between $500-600 for pacemakers by genie exhaust.

That included both a dyno before and after...
