Hey guys

Epic Rada build is taking shape. As part of my 2-tone paint jobbie i was to delete the chrome trims. In the picture i have (not of my car) it is circled in yellow the area im working on. This is the only area of chrome my car has (as its a KR) Obviuosly on both sides. So far i have removed the red-underlined chrome stripping above the doors and my plan is to fill the gutters/seam that this stripping covers and extend the roof edging. Just smarten it up a touch (small things count) and it will be painted the same colour as the marjority of the car (maybe purple).

What i need to know is did any magna, 2nd gen, come with black or body coloured window sil trim instead of chrome? Im referring to the part under each window on the doors?

ALso, does the glass have to come out to get the stripping off around the rear quarterglass? or is it clipped like the front doors? Hopefully it is clipped and the seal doesnt extend under the glass.

For those who need to ask, i am removing all fixtures before painting so there is no edges of paint at a fixture or seal. Less chance of cracking. Its more work but its closer to a complete respray as all non exterior paneling will be black (satin) including under bumpers, engine bay (engine out for replacement) and interior. The hardest part of the job will be stopping my missus from looking in the car while its happening (she hates me playing on cars)

So any help will be greratly appreaticate before i go balls deep

Rear quaterglass - the glass is held into the body work by three 10mm nuts undone from inside the car. Remove the inside trim, then you will see the 3 nuts. If you take it out you will be met by gooey sealant. If you just want to remove the trim, there is no need to remove anything - the chrome trim simply pulls out of the rubber from outside -but you will never get it back in if you change your mind. lol

Same thing here - I wait until she is asleep lol lol lol lol

hmm i need it gone to achieve what im aiming for so ill take it out and hopefully therubber seal will look ok once cleaned up without the chrome insert on it.

My aim is to black out the window area, including tinted windows (nothing too dark) but have no colour showing, and purple door panels and roof. I am also looking at smoothing out the area between the front and rear glass between the body, Its normally capped with unchromed trim pieces and i am going to seal it in and shape it to look like a seam (did it on a 180sx before, looked cast in) Anyways thanks for that heads up.
