My brother Magna is acting crazy yesterday. It's able to crank but couldn't start. We tried troubleshooting it but it seem too weird and non-logical. What do you think is the problem with this car?

TH Magna 1999 dual fuel
Auto
mileage: 280k km

-we tried swapping the battery but didn't work(means battery good).
-we change the distributor cap and rotor, almost started but die soon after.

-then we took out no.1 cable(front left facing the engine) and it started on 5 cylinder...

WTF.... when we plug in the no.1 plug cable, it couldn't start again? If no.1 cable is screwed, shouldn't it make no differences if it's connected or not? Weird right....

Could be the Body Control Module .....

Just under the dash on the right side is a little black box with wires coming out of it, once you find it jiggle the wires and see how that goes.

maybe the number 1 cable is set to a wrong cyl confuzing the firing order and stopping it from working?

Or #1 is shorting and losing the charge. Maybe try new leads?

We will try changing the no.1 lead, see if it works, if not then maybe i could have wrongly connect the lead into the distributor cap. Anyone have the firing sequence for the distributor cap?

Tried changing the no.1 to brand new lead, still cannot. Spoke to one of the Mitsubishi mechanic when getting the leads and apparently he is advising it could be the keyhole antennae playing up. Changed that and all is good now.

Nope, problem is the keyhole antennae. Change that all problem solved. Weird but true.
