hey thanks to all who has helped with my cold engine rattle

only dose it cold,sounds like its coming from the rear (firewall) but towards the belts,+ if it dose it and i switch it off
and start it again it starts perfect.
beware it sounds bad.....

Sounds like a sick 1940's tractor engine.... Weird one. Have u checked the belts? Power steering pump?

what is it about the timing belt tensioner?

has it go f'ed bearings on the pulley that it pushes on, has the fluid leaked out of it?

Mines been doing this for like 18 months since my belt got done.

50,000km later and still does it so dont stress about it, replace the tensioner when you get around to it its not doing any damage.
