hey guys
im getting rid of my old woodgrain console, to tackie for me and dont match the look im going for...
anyway would a KW center console fit into my KJ.... and by that i mean the plastic bit on top not the whole console?
i know others will fit like TJ and so on but i want the lids for the coin holder and cup holder, dont like the exposed look i also know that the TW and the TL might fit but their window controls are there so i cant be bothered re-wireing the windows ....
anyway thanks guys
The bottom part? Absolutely. Top part will also fit if you convert the climate control face to TL-TW style.

I thought TL had a different shaped lower-console/floor-console (the bit around the gear selector) - cos the oddment bin is a different shape and higher than KJ..... or do TLs have different than KL??

You are correct. The T/KJ lower console is different to T/KL and the T/KL also has the aircon vents in the rear behind the centre console lid.
Plus you could also do what matty.c has done;

The lower console is virtually the same from TE to TW apart from the addition of some bosses to attach the lid with vents assembly used on the TL/KL onwards. The fascia around the gearstick is designed to fit any model from TE onwards as well. To make the fascia with the cupholders with lid fit, you need to trim some material on the instrument panel frame (dash) up front near where the ashtray is to clear the upholder. You will see what I mean when you try and fit the new fascia. You will need to remove the latch from the old console lid as well as the fascia that sweeps up near the armrest lid uses the latch hole as a location for the fascia.

Ive got the full centre console lid from a KJ verada in mine. It has a lidded drink holder and coin tray, all i did was paint it silver to match the rest of ther HVAC/ashtay panels.
Heres a old pic, have since changed the ashtray to the full hidden type.

I fitted plenty of the satnav units whist i did a stint in MMAL service centre.... all that was done was the front bit of the centre console top was cut off to allow fitment of the satnav panel instead of the ashtray panel. The flip up lid will obstruct the satnav but then what can ya expect when its mounted in a stupid position.
Dicuss with me at the DIY day if u want (thats if ur coming to it)
