TJ2 already had climate control? Do you mean TJ MY02?

Execs didn't have it, and only some advances that I've seen, must've been an option or something (my MY02 advance has it, seen a 03 TJ2 advance and it didn't).

im also looking into this mod, would be keen on a kit if it happens. from what i have found out it wouldn't be that hard just very time consuming and finding all the parts i need may be tricky

This is something I've been wanting to do as well Ill have the TJ2 AWD and no climate control, l recently got wiring diagrams for the conversion. Also l hope to have an answer for you too ! Maybe even could consult with madmagna to get a plug and play kit for all those that would like to upgrade their A/C

I just got the wiring diagrams out so l don't make a fool of myself, and from what l can see, from the the only difference electrically is the climate ECU. So can any one tell me if there is a difference in the control of the vents ? Are they still manually controlled or do they have eclectic servo's controlling them ?

AFAIK the vents are all the same.. the one thing that the climate does is like control the temp (eg changing it from how to cold air etc)

Hmm, doing some more looking into the diagram and l found that the vents are electronically controlled. So, what l need to know is, what part of the vents have the controller motors attached to them ? This will tell me if we need to get the complete ducting pipes or just the motors. Any help from some one that has happened to pull apart a dash recently and knows what there looking for would greatly appreciated !

hmm thats really interesting.... i honestly would have thought that the vents are just manually controlled...

is there any chance you can put the diagram up here?

There's 3 servo units fitted.
The first one is on the air inlet side of the fan - used for recirc mode
The second unit is located above the ECU - not sure if it does hot/cold/air flow direction or all 3
The third unit is located adjacent to the diagnostics plug & controls flow direction

The set up in a TL/TW sees the fan unit sitting directly under the body panels air inlet point as opposed to a Nov 02 TJ executive where the fan is located further towards the centre of the glovebox.

Wow that's the detail I'm looking for thanks! Sounds like a big job ! Great ! Bring it on ! I think tomorrow it's time to ring a wrecker and get prices on it all !

The climate control is a very basic set up. In short the servo's do what your cables which are attached to your control knobs do.

You have temp sensors and the rest is done through the control unit. The servo above the ECU is on the bottom of the hearter box, it does the same thing as the temp control cable, it either directs air over the heater core or around it for cooler air.

The difference is that the control unit keeps a more constant temp etc over the manual system

What I am looking to do is set up the system to "tap" into the standard harness without having to cut into it at all.

Will be a few weeks off but once done will be initially for the TE - TH series and then once done will look at the difference in the TJ series
