Hey guys!
Just come up with a new idea that i think would make the 3rd gen gear knobs look better.
Im gonna paint the plastic ring around the push down button at the top bright silver which will be a copy of cars that have it done like Hyundai Tiburons and such other cars.
I will post pics when it is done but when you remove the top button(2 small screwdrivers on either side left to right to pull it off),you will find 3 small screws that seperate this piece so no masking required!
Cheers!

MightyMag has done the ring on his shift red. I may be doing mine soon to match my ralliart steering wheel.

Another option is finding a gearknob from a Calais, SS etc with colored stitching.

just remember the auto button you push down takes alot of wear so the paint will go off as in fade crack and rub off because of the use

I painted this part in my TE Arctic silver to match the dash and the outside section of the door handles. When replacing the button, before you click it in, spray some silicone spray on the painted part and it will protect the paint. After I did that, the paint never wore off or scratched :)

Mate! That is an awesome idea,i'll be keeping the clear coat off the inner part so i dont have too much paint build on the inside as i noticed there are scuff marks on the inside of it.
Might do a chrome button later on when i get some other things chromed but i'll post some pics anyway as im doing a brushed aluminium auto surround at the moment.
