View Full Version : What colour is your 380?

Stormie

I was just wondering what colours are everybodies 380s? trying to work out which the popular colours are on here. would do a poll but a) lots of options b) i dont know all the colours.
all this is due to the fact that i wanted an electro blue and ended up with molten red, but since looking around it seems we have a disproportionally high number of the electros already (disproportionate in that how many we have as to how rare i THINK they are.
any way
Stealth Black: 4
Electro Blue: 3
Storm: 3
Mawson White: 3
Platinum: 2
Molten Red: 2
Flame Red: 1
Adrenaline (gold): 1
Vision:
Blue Steel:
Sub-Lime:
Fusion Burst:
Zen: 0
(will update if anyone answers:P)

Perhaps this should be a poll. The colours used are:
Blue Steel
Mawson White
Vision
Storm
Platinum
Stealth
Molten
Electro
Adrenaline
Ralliart Red, some call this Flame Red
Sub lime
Fusion Burst
Zen, may have been used on less than 4 cars

My 380 is Electro

Another black (Stealth) one here.
When I went in to the dealer, I wanted a blue one (what's the dark blue one called?) but saw my black one first and grabbed it, having never had a black car before. (Won't get black ever again though, but that's another story)

There's at least 2 more black 380s here but I can't remember their names. One guy has the 20" black Cheetahs, and another has a Platinum I think. Oh and 1 more (so 3)... the guy with the very small avator. Sorry, bad memory.
EDIT: Had a look through Post Your Ride... couldn't find the guy with the 20s, but found 3 others (so now 4 that I recall)...
auspest, JimmyA, and (how could I forget) McHenry

yeah i would put in all the ones people have displayed in their avatars but then id forget who'd answered already etc. like blue 380 is obviously a blue, and fooz is adrenaline...
but ill wait till they answer before i count them.

Yeah you're the guy I was thinking of, with the 20s... couldn't remember your username, sorry.
As for washing a black car... yes, they look fantastic when clean and shiney - but there's nothing worse than a dirty muddy black car.

Unfortunately, no prize for guessing my colour, just thought I would reply anyway!!!

The only black car I have ever owned was a Suzuki Swift GTI...never again, blue is hard enough to keep clean.

I have the TJ Ralliart brochure and it says that the red is called Flame. There is no such colour as "Ralliart" red...

Where did you see this confirmed? I am prepared to be proven wrong!

Nice to see the Stealth black at the top of the list (at least as this post goes to air).

Hi Type40, like you I thought the red was Flame as that is what it was known as under TJ and TL. I have since seen internal Mitsubishi dealer communications that label it as Ralliart Red.

However I have not seen anything in the public domain that labels the colour as either Ralliart Red or Flame Red on the 380

when i went to my local paint shop to get 2ltrs of to paint my sideskirts and dash i told them the name of the paint was either ralliart red or flame red. so they looked it up and neither came up on the 380. the flame came up for tj-tw but not 380. so i asked howd you spelled ralliart he said rallyart. i replayed its spelt ralliart. he went back to the computer and typed it in and it came up.

if you need 100% proof go to ur neerest paint shop and tell them the paint code which is HQ and ralliart red.

Yep I agree. The paint code on my car is FA for Flame Red, and when my car was parked next to mytsgt95 380 it certainly is a different red. So its understandable there is a different paint code for his 380.

Interesting... You have proven me wrong. Now the question i have to ask is here in Vic there are some base ES 380's in the same red as yours. I have been lead to believe that they have been painted in the same red that our CFA uses on their cars. Would that code be the same code as yours? Anyone able to answer?

cant really answer that to be honest. would have to see the actual colour and were they painted after market etc.

The main dash is fine but around the switches and the centre LCD pod looks purple in bright sun. Possibly through sunroof?

Welcome to the forums! Go to UserCP menu and select Edit Avatar (for the little pic next to your name) or Edit Profile Picture (for the bigger image within your profile). You can link your image via ImageShack or PhotoBucket, or upload straight from PC (but it needs to be pretty small - just follow the directions). Good luck.

Just need decent products, black isnt that bad

isnt that bad? compared to what?

After owning two black mitsubishi's, they look awesome when clean but show up every imperfection, dents down the side of the door from inconsiderate so&so's at shopping centres. scratchs from neighbours cats and generally having to increase your upkeep in keeping the car clean.

now saying blacks not that bad isnt a problem if you dont mind looking after it, i.e. washing and drying it regulary, but after maintaining a black car for a few years you might welcome the laziness other colours afford.

the only thing i can think of worse than a black car would be white wheels.

Dave
12-09-2011, 09:17 PM
You need decent products, and more importantly a decent detailing technique. I now keep away from products from super cheap/repco as they are generally cheap and nasty. Investing in an expensive wax and using a DA to apply will give you months of perfect black paint and minimal swirls. Owned a TJ magna in sable, and it was fairly low maintenance once i had restored the paint to its best.
