hey guys, this weekend im buying Apricots Rockets SF manifold as his wont fit, cuz of traction control issues
then i just realised, my pacemakers have the EGR still attached, any one removed this pipe and blocked it off?
oh any one know of some good paint, so i can paint my extractors, to keep away the crappy looking surface rust, i had some high heat on them, but obviously the High heat paint wasnt exactly high enough, Braad will remember this lol

Get yourself a VT Commodore V6 sump plug. It's a perfect fit for the EGR port. To disable the system completely, unplug the right solenoid that's in front of the factory manifold.

Paintwise - VHT do a 1600*F paint that's marketed specifically for extractors. It's a bit pricey (~$19/can) but good.

has anyone got a pic of this solenoid?

It's out of focus, on the left side of the photo. Or, on the car, find the EGR valve on the back of the factory manifold, and trace the green striped vacuum hose down to the solenoid.

thanks for that, when you say EGR port, do you mean the port from the extractors? as they are pacemakers

Yeah, the threaded port on the extractors where the EGR pipe mounts. It's the same thread size/pitch as on the factory exhaust manifold. You'll need a big spanner; from memory it's a 22mm union.

not being a spoil sport here, but i think there might be legalities around bypassing emission systems on modern engines

true, but.............my car is a TF and it had a 3.0L engine in there, so it never had EGR to begin with.
its only illegal to downgrade a cars factory emmissions and put a engine in off a newer model.
my new engine is an upgrade, in emmissions, despite the loss in egr

I think you will find that your car must meet the emmission requirements for the car that the engine has come from ie if you have a 98 Magna with a 2002 engine, all emmission equipment from the 2002 car must be installed.

Having said this, if you are running the 3.0 upper manifold and all the "bits" are simply not there (not blocked off) then no one would know the difference anyway.

have had to go through this with my 68 Falcon, is running the 1996 5.0 and I need to have the cats, carbon canister etc etc to make it EPA compliant as these items were on the engine at the time of manufacture

i went looking for a sump plug, apparently there are 2 different sizes? in the v6?
do you know what size?

I had no idea that there were two sizes; upon researching, there's a 14x1.5mm and a 24x1.5mm. You need the bigger one, which seems to be VTII - VY specific, whereas the smaller one is VR - VT1.

Aside: How cool are these things? http://www.fumoto.com.au/sizes.htm

cool, thanks mate. i had a feeling it may have been due to the series 1/2 change. thought it may have been the II but thought id check
yeah thats pretty nifty, $46 for a magna.
