I'm having a bit of a problem with power in my car. I recently installed power windows in my car and they ran like **** so i charged the car battery up and they run fine now.
Now i installed my stereo today, had the front running off a amp for 10mins and suddenly the power cut itself off like i had turned ignition off. I turned the ignition to off then back to on again and everything was fun UNTIL i pressed the down button the electric windows. Same thing. Power cut out.
Am i having battery or alternator problems?

try tightening the negative cable on your batt coz i assume that you removed it when you did the stereo...

alternator charge light, near your speed alert screen/CMD lit?
test the output voltage of your alternator, by using a multimeter on the terminals
if the car is running and its behaving like this, then i would assume its to do with the alternator/regulator
and if its only when the car is off, then your battery may be going

Just tested again. Works fine with electric windows and cd player/amp together. Beats me what this is.

I got no dash cluster or anything in so can't tell. I'll try to find my multimeter.

How have you connected everything? The standard wiring (and speaker wire) is very good for a standard stereo, quite impressive actually! I have heard of people not running a direct power route for the amp, which is required! Also, how are your power windows upgrade tied in to the electrical system? It sounds like you are trying to pull too much juice through a certain part of your car's electricals.

Power windows were a straight swap over from the VR-X. Nothing modified at all, all cables, relay, regulators etc are from a VR-X. Amp is running off a cable directly from the battery with a fuse near battery.

well theres one problem right there!,the alternator requires a warning light (in dash/speedo cluster) to excite the diodes so the alternator charges correctly!,they will sometimes "self excite" and charge without a warning light circuit connected if you give it a rev,but most often at idle, you will get nothing, hence why your battery is probably knackered from you powering everything from it and not the alt while running and car off!
