Long time, no post. I hope everyone is doing well!

I have an electrical issue which is for my Camry, but I thought I would ask you knowledgeable Magna people for advice since I am pretty sure it is to do with an aftermarket alarm (not car brand specific).

OK so my 2000 model Camry unfortunately came with an aftermarket Mongoose alarm. The alarm going off a few times around the time I first bought it annoyed the hell out of me so I turned the sound off. Three days ago, for some strange reason the alarm went off (lights flashing) while it was just sitting there. I might make mention of the fact it was BUCKETING rain at the time. I went and got the alarm remote and turned it off and didnt think anything else of it. I hadn't touched the car for a day when I went to start it and found the battery totally flat the next day. I presume the alarm went off again overnight and drained the battery flat.

So I get RACQ out to chuck some jumper leads on and start the car. The only problem is that now all right hand side indicators are on solid (not flashing). The indicator is in the middle position and it is also showing the right hand sight indicator light on solid on the dash display. The indicator on the left side works fine. I tried disconnecting the battery and all sorts of combinations of presses on the alarm remote to no avail.

I have a suspicion there is some dodgy wiring somewhere? Ideally I'd love to rip the *********** alarm out all together but I want to make sure I do so in a way that doesn't stuff the wiring for my lights/indicators.

Has this happened to anyone else?? Any suggestions??

It is just my luck that I just advertised my car for sale too. Never had a single problem before this small (but frustrating) issue!

Just unplug the "brain." Won't affect your lights etc...

Is it an immobilizer as well? If so, you will need to identify which wires are for immob., then identify the pairs and rejoin them. Check that no water got into the indicator housings. Some alarms will trip their tamper circuits if a short is detected regardless of whether or not the alarm is activated.

Then buy a Black Widow system.

Nothing wrong with Mongoose alarms. I had one in my Verada and it never played up. It was installed by a pro with a very good reputation (on this forum and many others).

I think in the OP's case it's most likely due to a dodgy install. My friend had a Viper alarm in his 180SX which always used to go off when it pissed down with rain. Was due to the sensitivity of the shock sensor but he wrote the car off before he could fix it.

Was going to say what MOHIT said, usually is the shock sensor

The indicator circuit has a pair of relays for the flashers, this could be fused on which often happens with many alarms

The relays for the flashers, where are they? Inside the car under the dash, or under the bonnet?

I have done probably a dozen amp and/or head unit installs so I am not useless with wiring. I am selling the car and really do not care if the alarm comes out (and goes in the bin). So my lights should be fine if I just disconnect the wires leading to the "brain", so long as it does not involve my immobilisor as well?

RACQ guy reckoned he had never seen an alarm have one side of the car lit up solidly (not flashing).
