I want to know what are direct drop ins.. for a 98 TF Sedan...

Wont be using an Amp...
Not really fussed on brands as long as they are better sounding then stock..

As for the 6x9's 2-ways... No point me getting 3-4 ways as I am only interested in having a basic system..

What do I mean by direct drop ins...

No Additional modding.. I just need good clean sound. The car will have a Sony Xplod Deck in it (think a 2000 non MP3 which will get replaced in time)

You'll want 3-4 way 6x9's if you are not going to have a sub, thats where you bass is coming from.

Most low-end stuff will fit fine. Generally you want a good set of splits for the front, and a basic set of 6x9s for the rear. The front will hold 6.5" with ease, however for SQ its best to make a custom MDF baffle.

The 6x9 will be a 2-way ... the Little Tweeters ontop of that large woofer will have little to do with the Bass Output..

Yes, but you want an all-rounder in there :) They are fairly cheap anyways. To answer your question though, pretty much any will fit... I just have some Sony's I think all 4 speakers cost me about $350 at the time.

2-way 6x9s will be a woofer and tweeter, might as well have a midrange as well.

There is nothing you can do to help the upper mid range of a 6x9 speaker. 2 way is more than enough.

What is ur budget like? Boston and Hertz make some nice cheapish ( sub $150 ) coaxials which have shallow mounting and high efficiency ( for the deck of course ).

Perhaps:
Boston S65 - 35WRMS, 92db, 50mm depth, 6inch 2 way $139rrp
Boston S953 - 45WRMS, 92db, Approx 80mm depth, 6x9inch 3 way $199rrp

I seen them for $110 and $160 respectively at one store. :D

Just something that will sound heaps better than the average Pioneer / Sony offering that can be used even if you catch the bug and upgrade. Make sure you audition as many as possible. :D

I've only got a really basic system at the moment with a pioneer headunit. My front speakers are stock but in the rear i've got Pioneer TS-A6962E 3-way 6x9s. They sound a ****load better than the stock rears. They were on special for $90 new (normally $110) but I got em 2nd hand (6 weeks old) for $25 tho :P

edit: oh yea they dropped straight in, used the stock screws and holes too...

That's what I got for 81.50 including cables, just because they were deemed "too old".
Look for speakers which are being phased out, because not only do you get an alot cheaper product, but if the something goes wrong they'll give you the new ones, under the warrantee.

You'll want 3-4 way 6x9's if you are not going to have a sub, thats where you bass is coming from.
What? You want 3-4 ways if your not going to be using a sub? You do realise that the only difference between 2, 3 and 4 way speakers generally is how many tweeters they have? 3-4 way 6x9"s will be no better at all for low end, in fact the best 6x9"s made are pretty much always 2 way.

Or we can go by your logic and all get 14-Way Kingwoods for $26.99 off eBay and have EPIC BASS! :woot:

I'd suggest getting something with high efficiency ratings if your only ever going to run off the headunit, you'll get the most out of the headunits power that way.

Edit: Focal Access 165A1 would be something good to look at as well, a lot of places have them running out the door around $200, then couple them with the best 6x9"s you can pickup around $100. I know people will shoot at me for this but Fusion FES-692 6x9"s you should be able to get around $100 (RRP$159), if you can get past the fluro green cone (will be covered by your stock grilles anyway) they're actually a really good 6x9", came 4th in a recent test of 6x9"s under RRP$300 in fact.

Well the nearest Audio Shop to me (Supercheap) has JVC 2-ways 6 inches and 3-way 6x9's that would be possible for $179 for both....

The Car I am getting has a Sony CDX-250S Deck in it

Just FYI with JVC speakers, don't expect much midbass from the cheaper ones, I had cheaper JVC 6x9"s at one point (picked em up brand new for $10, couldn't complain) and they had no bass what so ever coming from them, just mids and highs, would have sounded absolutely horrible without a sub.

I've never heard the Bostons Mr İharisma has suggested but I'd imagine they'd have a pretty full sound. Otherwise of the mainstream brands JBL (GTO series especially), Pioneer, Fusion and Alpine should have a good 6x9 in your budget, then just get a similar speaker for the 6" in the front. I only say match them up because usually I've found the 6" and and 6x9" speakers in the same range usually have similar strong and weak points which makes them easier to tune with the limited controls from the headunit.

Edit: Infact while they're cheap at JB (online anyway, maybe not instore), you could consider MB Quart 6" Coax's and 6x9"s, probably set you back about $250 delivered and they'd be a damn sight better than the JVC's you looked at.

Oh and just for the sake of it if you look at what those JVC 6's and 6x9's are worth at JB online you'll notice they're nearly $80 less than Supercrap coming in at $100.10 :P
