anyone done it? with a little fiberglass it could be a handy trick for say, extra dash space for car audio or gauges etc or just for something different. Would it be just a matter of extending all the electrical wiring to the glovebox or somewhere else or is there more involved with doing something like this?

Pretty sure Biggs (i think it was him) was putting a massive touchscreen in his centre console, so big it meant he had to relocate the air-con controls to the glove box

u got climate or not?
climate wouldnt be to hard at all
non climate would be a nightmare with all the rods controlling opening and closing of vents etc...

i've got non climate. the thought was really more curiosity than any real desire the actually do the job
In my experience there isnt much give in the controls, relocating them might be a bit complex. You may have to extend cables and such.

Well ive had all the dash out of my second gen with std controls and have thought about the climate option..i passed as it is a big job or more so just a pain when im happy with knobs.
As far as relocating goes that can be done but were too?
It would have to have new cables made, thats possible using like lawn mower parts etc if longer run needed or just shorten the ones you have depending on location. Still tricky as the ends are rolled.
I cant really see how the work would be justified, time etc.
At the end of the day the unit takes up a din size , so i cant see were it could go with out being unusable while driving. The climate system may be able to be moved to somewhere but i have no ideal where.
It would end up being a complete custom install with fiberglass etc to make it work.
Great ideal but i don't think it would work with out lots of cash and a real need to do it.
Best of luck!

how hard would it be to put in a 'climate control' into your magna if you have the old school one (non electrical just the dials and switches) i got a TF

Quite complex, dash out job, you need to replace all the cables with motors and install a upper spec wiring harness to make it work. If you are doing something like CC, SRS, a heater core, etc... at the same time it may be justified, otherwise its too complex for one simple job.
