theres a mob on eBay that make genuine leather gear boots to suit quite a few models (Falcons, Commodores etc) they might do Magna ones.

Get a genuine one. They are about $20 to $25 from memory.

genuine spares are only vinyl, but should last a while. Cheap enuf, as stated in prev post - and you can keep the old one for template and plastic parts in case you want a custom one made (the ring at top and plastic frame at base where it screws to underside of console).

Why would you bother when the genuine one is only 20 bucks

My dealer is also keen on high-prices for spares, and craptastic service generally too. However, if they don't order an item especially for me and just add it to the next order - freight charge is much less! They finally volunteered that info for me recently.

I'd be very surprised if any dealer would keep a cosmetic part like that in-stock. Sometimes I'll not buy locally and wait until I make a trip to Newcastle or Sydney, ring ahead and order, collect when in the "big smoke".

Most boots I've seen at SCA etc have been around the $30- mark or more, so has to (hopefully) fit our console, and more expensive to boot (ooh, a pun).
maybe we can save the Aussie economy, one gear-boot at a time - go on, order one!!

I got a custom leather one made and the gear knob recovered to match for $60 each ($120 all up). Made out of seating leather so its heavy duty and won't wear like the crappy factory vinyl which I was sick of.

See for pictures (http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45664&highlight=Leather+gear)

I picked one up for around 25 bucks as soon as I bought my TH a few years back. It's still in top condition now.

Just this last week, I removed it from the centre console and cleaned in the crevices properly. It's like a bought one again.

Yeah if your Gear shifter has no Numbers then a Diagram Decal of Gear location must be displayed... EG 1976 VW Beetles have Diagram Stickers lol...
