ok, no idea what this thing is called. Im talking about the door lock switch on the door handle inside of the car. (the thing that locks and unlocks the doors)

I have a TH with central locking, and when i lock it from the inside, it locks all 4 doors. Lately i haven't been able to lock the door from the inside at all. Its like as if it is stuck in the UNLOCKED position. However it locks / unlocks using the remote no problems.

Has anyone heard of this issue before? is it a faulty motor that drives these things and doesn't react to manual switching?

does the switch move freely at all?
maybe pull off the trim and unscrew the handle and have alook
the metal pole that attaches to the lock part may have come out

Nah, the button doesn't move freely at all. Its as if it is stuck in the UNLOCK position. However it works ok with the remote and the key from the outside. Just cannot lock / unlock manually from the inside. The other 3 doors work ok.

Get another panel from a wrecker and see if it works. Or even borrow one from another members car. Sounds like switch is stuuuuuuufed.:)

Thank Fk I'm not the only one getting hot under the collar with this problem. You can skin the door and try to 'slide' the locking mech by hand but the sucker just WILL NOT MOVE! Grr! The key wont even turn the lock, it will from the passenger side. My key stopped talking to my car 2years ago :(

Going to rip mine out tomorrow I think. Gotta be something obvious. Then again, it's a mitsubishi.........

so you have both tried looking at the physical mechanism? There is a length of steel that clips onto the locking mechanism (in fact there is two, one for the lock and one for the handle). It may simply have come unclipped.

Yep, looked at it. It's still attached to the lug. But can I get that rotten thing to turn?? Tried turning key while pushing the rod with my fingers etc for no result. Klosters want $480 for a new mechanism! NFW.

Sounds like two similar but slightly different problems. Ez Boy yours sounds like the key barrel mechanism has jammed. Had this happen to me so I took the handle out of the door and took it to my local locksmith. He pulled it apart cleaned it all up and all was good. Cost me 50.00 bucks. El3ment yours sounds like the lug on the back of the key barrel has jammed. You need to take off the door card and see if you can find where it is jamming and free it with some good old wd40 or similar. Lock housings are alloy and sometimes corrode up around the key barrel.

try sitting in the car, doors closed and lock the car with the remote to see if it moves then.
