Hi...does anyone have any suggestions for me.....first I think my car belongs in the 2nd gen...........96 magna..4 cyl.....2.6 litre.
My problem is I have an immobilizer which is attached to the dash, i dont know if this was standard for my model or if someone has placed it there before i bought it, anyway, when the engine is off it flashes red, before you start the car you need to use this other contraption that you glide over the two sprokets, as soon as you hear a click, you are then able to turn your key and the car will start, seems really prehistoric and a real time waster, and will be getting it disabled by an auto electrician soon. Anyway if anyone is familar with this setup, my problem at the moment is that rather than getting a fairly fast bright continuous flash, I get a fairly dull one which wont allow me to start my car, is there anything i can do in the meantime, its frustrating, i'm too scare now to drive it, especially if i am going to get petrol, sometimes it takes ages for me to start it, because there is no flashing light or the flashing is dull

Much appreciated

they used to have this in the van, for a company i used to work in, it stop people steeling it without the little contraption thing, a real pain in the ass, we had a similar probably but it turned out the contacts were starting to fault, no flashy lights though.

Sounds like the unit is probably faulty .. this is a long shot on the interpretation of what you said .. but when you say it takes ages for you to start it - you don't mean with the starter motor do you? Makes me wonder if your battery is on the blink if your immobilizer is getting low power and then makes it harder to start as well? Seems pretty unlikely to me though. Time for a new alarm!
