Maxxis MA-Z1 Victra (http://www.maxxis.com/AutomobileLight-Truck/High-Performance/MA-Z1-Victra.aspx) or Federal ss595 (http://www.federaltyres.com.au/ss595). Both 93W rated in 245/35r19. Federals will probably be a bit cheaper by ~$20 per tyre.

I run the federal ss595's in 235/45r17 and are very happy with them. Good grip and seem to be wearing well.

Please get Federals. While most ignorant people on this forum don't know about Maxxis' religious affiliations and where the profit goes, I do, and it's extremely frustrating to see people recommend them. http://blacktowngreens.org/?page_id=6

Not to sound rude or uncaring....keep in mind that tyres are the only thing in contact with the road. Wouldn't want to smash up the new rims by being cheap, would you?

On topic though, those rims are sweet :P

I'm running on Federals at the moment, and must say you get exactly what you pay for. Save up and get some Pirellis or Falkens, you won't regret it

Yeh i'd "ignorantly" go for Maxxis, used them before in 18" size and they're a great tyre. But make sure you get a tyre that matches or exceeds the minimum load and speed rating shown on the tyre placard on your car.

you don't need to spend a fortune to get a good tyre if you shop carefully. The Maxxis is a very good tyre indeed.

They look good Tony. Maxxis are a good tyre, got 'em on my car, been from Perth to Adelaide, Adelaide to Mt Beauty(in the rain and mild sleet) and then Adelaide to Mildura..infact i've done over 10 000 klicks in 2 months....Bob Jane T-Farts rim/tyre deal.

Pirellis for 600? 20% tread? lol

I am with Mohit on this one, Maxxis have served me well, no complaints thus far, they seem cheap enough too (150 per tyre [18"])

Whether or not they support a certain group seems rather irrelevant, they make a good tyre, you can't delve into where money is going every time you purchase something

nah the Pirelli's are said to be new - but $600 new Pirelli's ? I have my doubts of them being Genuine or could have an unknown (or at least an undisclosed) fault/problem. ...but could be worth a shot I guess if you don't mind gambling $600+Freight. they are also a slightly different size to what the OP wanted so would be slightly smaller in diameter (someone can correct me on this if they wish).

If they are the RJR Termor mags then go for it. I have them in chrome on my car with my second set of Maxxis. They are a good value tyre. In the recent motor magazine tyre test they faired very well and motor said if it was a tyre bang for your bucks the Maxxis would be the winner.

I will put up a clear pic tonight in my ride thread.

To be fair and accurate, the most recent tyre test was done with MAXXIS i-Pro. Other types of MAXXIS tyres may not have faired quite so well. The MA-Z1 have done well in the past.

I've got Maxxis MA-V1's on mine, grip well wet and dry and they're one of the quieter I've driven on. So no complaints here.

Only caution I'd have with MA-Z1 is I don't think they make one with a sufficient Speed and Load rating for our cars.

eh? MA-Z1's are Z-rated speed rating. Load ratings are 94 I think which is 1 point too low for any Magna/Verada.

I had them on my Ralliart in 235/40/18 and they were 95 load rating I'm pretty sure. Bob Jane put them on and they don't recommend illegal load rated tyres.

There's no 245/35R19 tyres with a high enough load rating for Magnas. You'll need to go to a 245/40R19 XL load which jumps to a 98.

A 235/40R19 96Y would be ideal, but you only have the choice of a Continental ContiSportContact 3 and Pirelli P-Zero Nero in that size
Kuhmo Ecsta SPT, I dunno if they go 19" but damn I love those tyresOtherwise known as KU31s, they're good.

they are nice lookin tyres, fairly well priced.

Not sure how they compare in performance though

SupremeMoFo

Nope. www.tirerack.com list 36 tyres in 245/35R19, from Bridgestone, Pirelli, Michelin, Kumho, Yokohama, Goodyear, etc - all of them are either 89 or 93 load rating.

The stupid thing is that load rating 93 = 650kg. It's impossible to have 1300kgs in weight over the front axle, let alone the rear. 95 is 690kg.

gonna go out of the grain here and suggest the goodyear eagle f1 tyres.. rather expensive but well worth it, or pirelli dragons.

my other suggestion is for the toyo's proxes 4 or proxes t1r. personal opinion: stay away from nankangs, not sure if it was coz it was on a particular car but they were terrible in the wets in that car

SupremeMoFo

I'll strongly recommend against T1Rs because 2 mates have had them, on MX-5s and a modified Liberty RX, and their breakaway tendencies were terrible.

have u heard anything about the proxes 4? these tyres are pretty pricey, i thought that they'd be alright! i had a good run with toyo so far, so i thought they'd be alright

pirelli dragons in 245/35/19 are around 600ea lol they are good and cling like dag on a sheeps ****

i had em b4 and i went into a tyre power shop and asked for the best tyre and they told me kumo was the best. so i said are they better than the pirelli's on my car? the answer was no so i left.

i got dunlop sp sport maxx at 450ea (530ea retail) there an unbelievably good tyre john bowe reckons its the best road tyre in the world
:facejump: Sorry man. Try some Yoko Advan Neova AD07 or Bridgestone RE11. Those are proper road tyres and will decimate the Pirelli Dragons or the Dunlops. You pay for them tho, they're noisy and don't last long.

I have Nexen N3000 245/35/19 tyres on my SS. Compared to the Maxxis MA-V1 tyres i had on my Verada they are pretty much the same in the dry but not as good in the wet. They are also a little bit nosier. Not sure if they make 19s in the load rating required for 3rd Gens.

john bowe doesn't rate em :gfight:

and are they better than the pirelli's i mean like the pzero?

P-Zero are nothing special. My old man used to have P-Zero Rossos on his Monaro.

Do some research into Yokohama Advan Neova AD07. Japanese tyre of the year. Streets ahead of anything you'll buy from Bob Jane.

+1 for NEXEN N3000 for value

for performance BRIDGESTONE POTENZA RE001 ADRENALINE. awesome tyre, but a bit pricey

best road tyre in the wet that money can buy is the goodyear eagle f1 ASYM. Its commendable in the dry. Personally i think wet performance is most important, then again i am a pom haha

Good luck finding a 94+ rated 19" tyre for sensible money. Most seem to be, at best, 93W.

I reckon one of the best value for money tyres going around is the Kumho Ecsta SPT KU31.

Had a set on my old TE (not 19s but 225/50 17) and they had good grip in both wet & dry, didn't ride too hard, not noisy, reasonably long wearing and cost under $200 each.

I was looking to upgrade from 18s to 19s on my 380, now I'm spending my money on extractors & exhaust instead, but I spotted this Fleabay ad:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/BRAND-NEW-255-35-19-KUMHO-KU31-TYRES-BMW-M3-L-K_W0QQitemZ260421406622QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Car_P arts_Accessories?hash=item3ca2534f9e&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C 301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50

Load rating 96Y.

But they are 255 wide, which may be illegal for a Magna (and maybe a 380 as well). And maybe some doubt about how fresh they are, could be old/surplus stock that has been sitting around for years.

But if the width is legal and they are genuinely 'fresh', then $450 a pair is a bargain.

KJ.

How do they fit? Enough clearance at the front or do hit the guards? What offset are you running, 35+?

I run these aswell, they are a great tyre, heaps better than the Kuhmos that were on the car when I bought it. The 93 load index may not be leagle but I haven't had any problems with them

I have 245/35/R19 Kuhmo KU19's on my Commodore and they are fantastic. Great in the dry.. even better in the wet and they seem to be wearing very well as a bonus.
Not sure if it's been mentioned before but.. give Tempe Tyres a call for great prices. They shipped the Kuhmo's to me in QLD and were still about $30.00 per tyre cheaper than anyone I could find locally. ;)
