View Full Version : Distributor.?
Hay all
Took my distributor cap of my magna today. The cap itself looked in very good condition except on the inside of it on each little metal termanal thingy there was a little white stain just above each one?. I cleaned it out but there was only a little bit of dust. I took some pictures there was a crack im pritty shore on the distributor itself. And a black carbon mark on the end of the rotor arm but i sandard it of lightly. Wats the condition look like of the distributor.?

Well it looks fine, but hard to tell with a pic, that's how they get after a while. If fuel economy or motor runs bad then change.

Hey mate.
I just had my rotor button replaced because my car was surging ever so slightly when taking off in the morning when she was stone cold. felt like little flat spots.
Mine looked like yours does, burnt on the end.
The new one fixed my problem, made the car so much smoother, inc gear changes. I really couldnt get over how much difference it made.
You can pick them up for $20 new so i would recommend doing it by the look of yours.
Well worth $20 knowing she is sparking much better and more effeciently.
Can anyone see the small crack in the first picture can that affect anything.? Aswell inside the distributor cap the little termanals had little white stains above each one wats with that.?

Hay mate. I end up sanding the burnt stuff of with a lite sand paper. Dont know if that will fix it or not.

hmm i did reply but it obviously didnt post
i'd say the crack is ok, the rotor looks fine in the pic, and your cap should be ok if the terminals arent too badly cavitated
are you experiencing any symptoms, or were you just looking?
if you have any doubts then repco/veale have the caps and rotors in champion brand for ~$120
new NGK leads are also only ~$120 a set

Hay mate no im just looking. Are those leads high performance or standard.? Aswell on the end of my rotor were the carbon black is. I end up sanding the black stuff of lightly. But there was a gold coat on the end of that rotor and wondering if the gold coat was there for a reason.?
