Can anyone recommend a good earth point in the boot of a 3rd Gen ???

I've used the wheel well near the rear top, away from the tyre. It's close to my amps.

I previously had my Earth cable running up and bolted to the underside of the Child Restraint point in the parcel shelf, worked well. If you're looking to have big power draws from the back end, I'd recommend running the earth directly from the battery though, to save pulling the negative rail down from everything in between. I had to do that to try and stop my headlights dipping on every bass kick, lol.

You want the least resistance possible on your amps, running an earth cable all the way to the battery is not advisable.
If your headlights dip, try cleaning the earths on your headlight circuit, adding a decent battery or upgrading your alternator.
If your amps are mounted behind the taillights - there's the power antena bracket which is a good earth, and on the drivers side there is a similar bracket.
Otherwise just drill through the floor - clean the paint off and you're good to go.

Thought about upgrading alternator but if I'm reading manual correctly, comes factory with 110A Alternator fitted already, lol
Also, had forgotten resistance in earth line.... might have to dual earth and check headlight connections as you said.... still, upgrading earth from battery to body couldn't hurt as well... hehe
Also, as fairly new 13plate battery up front and that helped a bit... could just have too much pull at the back end of the car for single battery, might have to go dual.

@Magnat,
behind the carpet-lining on pass side (underneath the antenna, strangely!!) is a metal bracket running vertically - the boot-release motor is mounted to the back of this. It only screws into a plastic plug in boot floor, but has one or two 10mm bolts at the top, which should make good earth.
There would also be those little threads where the carpet/felt lining over tail-lights is secured by weird plastic nut...... maybe you could clean up around where that thread is welded on, and put a couple of "real" nuts on there for an earth?
As per Elwyn said - behind the carpet, there's two mounting bolts (10mm socket) which work well. To the right of that is a spare thread (just needs paint cleaned off).
3 earth points there alone.
Bluey7 - upgrade your battery - body earth to the same size as your +ive to boot cable. Or just use 0AWG, I kept the factory earths aswell.
My headlights used to dim, when my battery was on its way out. Now running Optima, we'll see if they dim once the stereo is together.

Only does it now when pulling heavy bass in the back end. Battery's only a year old so should be alright. I'll look at earths next chance I get.

Do a quick check on your battery and make sure the voltage is up around 12.5-12.6. I had almost 1kwrms with 80a alt, optima and earthing kit which had no headlight dim with the air con going. Best to check than assume.
If its a non sealed lead acid - top up your water in the battery, you'd be suprised what this does....

Just a note:
I drilled new holes in the car and used bolts nuts etc..(in the boot well).yes i primed around it for rust etc. I had some bolts and nuts around and used them.,opps dont use light alloy washers as they dont conduct well.use metal washers bolts etc.. just a note. Made a big difference in voltage to the amps.
Just a tip...

I got at leats 1.5kwrms in my boot, lol. Not that it get's used to that limit very often, if at all... tends to hurt the ears....
I'm using 2 of the bolts the original KE rear seat used to bolt the base down, newer seats only use 1 centre bolt and 2 side bolts, KE seats had 3 centre bolts. Nice solid earths. :woot:

Another word of Warning... Make Sure if you cover your Earth points up with Carpet that they are 100 % secured... one little vibration and it will spark ....
