Looks like it has almost everything, except the kitchen sink!
I know nuts about audio systems, be it for car or home, so need some advice from our fellow forumers who knows more about these things.

No... at least pony up for a JVC 2DIN screen. They're cheap for a reason.

I have a similar unit to this and while the quality is not great, it still goes ok. Radio is ok but i have it connected to a 600 watt amp through Pioneer 6x9 rears and Pioneer splits in the front. On cd and dvd, the sound quality is excellent. The gps runs Route 66 is is a lot quicker to plan your route than my old Navman. Good value for money me finks.:happy::happy::happy:

I've did a bit of reading/digging/googling... and did find that most of these made in china all in one 2dins use Route 66. Is it a good GPS software? How do i go about updating the maps?
Since u have similar one i really appreciate more input from ya!

Mine came loaded with 2006 Route 66 maps on an SD card. Not sure how to upgrade them but seems like a good navagation system. The inbuilt bluetooth is excellent. I have the external antenna for the gps mounted under the dash behid the headunit and it stii picks uo 10 out of a possible 12 satelites. Im quite happy with it
I'd personally pay the same money ($300-$400-ish) for a high-end Pioneer or Alpine double-DIN deck with no screen, but CD/MP3, cassette or MiniDisc, and radio. Oh, and Aux/iPod input of course. These double-DIN non-DVD head units are fast going the way of the dinosaur and are pretty keenly priced now. Especially if you have a double-DIN slot to fill up.
Personally am not a fan of the DVD screens ("can't watch TV when driving") and I put pristine sound quality as a top priority. Especially if you are not going to run top-grade speakers and sub-woofers, you really need a head unit that will reproduce the sound effectively and with a good deal of tweakability, so that you can EQ out any inherent flaws in the stock speaker setup as best as possible.
I've found that some of the lesser-known brands produce sound quality that is not quite on par with the Alpines and the like. And no, you can't simply boost the bass & treble to compensate either. The cheapo brand ones just sound weak and undefined in their frequency response.
The Pioneer FH-P5000MP is the one I'd recommend.

Its gotta be said... " What will you do when it craps out"
At least with a JVC,Pioneer Hell even Kenwood you can send offto have them repaired...
60W x4 does sound a little dodgey to me as even a Sony 52W starts to loose it really early in the volume spectrum...
RCA Voltage isn't stated so it could sound crap connected to a decent amp...
I would over look the features and wonder about quality...

Not worth it mate, any of that ebay hong kong crap ain't built to last. HU's, phones, MP3 players and so on commonly have the touch screen or something else fail often in a short period of time.
The menu systems are a joke, choice of colours and layout is usually terribly ugly and cheap looking

It all depends on your budget. If you want something thats got everything but dont want to pay a fortune for it, then this is the way to go. You can pay nearly this much for a navagation system. Sound quality with a known brand amp will give you fairly good sound quality. Resolution for dvd etc is very good. Good value for a next to nothing outlay:happy:

The seller on ebay got back to me regarding the GPS component. Seems like it is loaded with an evaluation version of a European GPS software. What it really is the guy didn't say. He did say to delete it and reload with some free Australia GPS software. Free GPS softwares on the internet... well hardly any that is good!

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the magnetic base of the Digital TV Tuner (DVB-T) antenna and GPS antenna strong enough to be placed on a car? Yes, the base of both the GPS and DVB-T antenna are built with very strong magnets, so they can stay on when you go drifting in your car.
it made me lol.
and back to the OP please dont buy one of these units.. i bought one for my old car, it lasted about 4 weeks and it died.. and the warranty didn't cover the "malfunction"

I was thinking exactly the same thing.
I wouldn't trust it man, just save up a bit more for a decent headunit, www.ryda.com.au is the best

Any good HU to recommend then my dear friends? I need bluetooth, gps maps and perhaps digital radio on it. Don't think any of the branded ones do these yet...
