Hey guys, dunno whether I'll find the answer here or not, I might ask on MCA also, but hopefully someone might be able to help out.

My mate's into off road racing and is looking at putting a 3000 GTO twin turbo engine into a buggy, and needs to find out the weight of these engines. But we have both kinda struggled to find a number anywhere...

so, does anyone know how much these engines weigh?

any help would be much appreciated :)
Thanks,
-Matt.

Getting mixed weights by doing a search on 3si.org
People are saying between 400-450lbs with turbos

Yeah going through some posts now, one guy has said 300lbs with turbos and piping but everyone else is saying around the 400-450lbs mark so I'm not sure really, haven't found a definite 100% correct answer

7mgte (similar era and tech) inline 6, cast block and alloy head) with piping was 176kg according to my block and tackle.

SO maybe with 2 banks and extra piping it could very well be around that mark.

one of my mates does off road in a buggy with a 3.5L magna engine with a turbo, not his buggy though he just navigates for the guy

why would you possibly need a TT motor on a buggy, that little caterham has a 2.4L NA AFAIK

Torque, for sandy/muddy bits that a caterham probably never needs to navigate. Mind you, would look bloody cool attempting it!

fyi the national championships have been won by TTs 3 outta the last 4 years :) I think that's a good reason.
