well i was just wondering if anyone could help me with some questions about the sizes of wheels and rims ect, my car(2000 tj sports) has king lows on front and king superlows on the back.
does anyone know if 20x8.5 rims with 245/35/20 will scrub on as im not sure if i should go with 18's or the 20's
useless without offset info...

Don't get 20s. Lame to the max. I didn't want 19s, it was just the price that made me do it, would've preferred 18s.
Regardless... 245/35R20s are 15mm larger in overall diameter than 215/60R16s, based on the size the tyres should be. This will be fine with an offset of 35. Offset of 40 and pretty sure the front struts won't clear the tyre. Rear would be fine.

wow superlows on the rear and lows on the front. is that correct. would look a little odd. most people go the other way around. just clarifying.

Yeah, they'll scrub on the fronts. Not too sure about the rear. A heat gun will fix it up for you easily, though.
I'm running 235/45/18 on mine & I need to 'mould' or remove the plastic splash guard as they rub like****. The wheel/ tyre combo that you're goin for is 11mm larger & 10mm wider than what I'm running.
Actually schnell was running a similar size front & rear with a 35+offset & didn't have to much problems with the rear. He was running Low SPs, however IIRC.

The back was way to high on lows for me, it just looked funny
plus my front hits like everything so there is no way id want superlows on there

And 18s aren't? haha... only way to avoid kerbing your rims is to stick with the factory 16s.

Interesting. I've just booked my Verada, which has 18*8 in for a new set of tyres at Bob Jane. They dragged out the tyre sizing bible book and told me that 234/40*18's are actually no good fo a Magna/Verada and that the best size is in fact 22/45 * 18.
This might explain a lot in terms of handling characteristics. They told me that many tyre and wheel deals are structured with the 234/40's as they are the most common and cheapest tyre, but not always the best for certain applications - magna's included.
For the record I'm fitting falken 912's.

I wouldn't say they're no good. 235/40/18 is 10mm smaller than my factory rims (225/50/17) - it's well within the legal tolerance of +15/-26mm. 225/45 is closer to original (3mm larger) which is why I imagine they suggested it. I'd be curious to see if the narrower tire meant you were less prone to rubbling on flares. I'm looking at 18x8 rims but I'd love to avoid cutting my flares.

I never experienced any rubbing from the 234/40's on my 18*8's. What I haven't liked is a pitching that I've always had and I've put down to the lack of sidewall movement in the tyres that i have. I've replaced my suspension setup with some Kings touring springs and Boge Shockers, which has transformed the handling and turn in, ans well as dropping the height to an acceptable VRX/GTV stance. The springs are nicely progressive, and interestingly I don't bottom the towbar receiver anymore with the new setup. I just don't notice two people in the back seat.
Anyway will see how the Falken 912's go.
it's well within the legal tolerance of +15/-26mm.
Be careful with the legalities as I think it's different in each state for both wheels + tyres.
In NSW, the tyre's rolling diameter has to be within +/- 15mm of the available tyre options on the car's tyre placard.

I used to have 18x8 inch rims, with 235/40R18 tyres, and never had rubbing issues on a 45 offset. Just go with that combo as it is the most common.
