It's coming up for a mid-service service on the 380 and I'm wondering what oil people are using, or do most people just take it to the dealer and let them put in whatever?
What's the recommended type for the 380, 10-40?

I'm running Valvoline Synpower 5W-40. I only went to this with the blower, before that I just let the mechanic use whatever he prefered.

Not exactly but he uses Valvoline exclusively & by their website Problend 10W-30 or Engine Armour 10W-30 is what they recommend for the 380. Synpower is fully synthetic & more expensive.

gtx-3 is fine, but i'd probably go with something lighter if its done under 100,000.... or over 100k in good condition.
I can reccomend Nulon 10w-40 full synthetic. $60 for 6 litre 'value pack' at supercheap.... (or 58 bucks for the 5 litre) or penrite HPR-10 (10w-50). another awesome oil, semi synth, about $35 for 5 litres. Theres also the nulon 10-30 'fast flowing', around the same price as the penrite, great stuff.

For my mid-service oil change, I get the oil & filter from Mits. The oil container doesnt have a brand name on it, just a Mitsubishi sticker with the oil rating.
