Gday, My 2001 TJ Magna (auto) will start but then the engine will stall/die, i will have to do this heaps of times before it will start and stay running. also if i give it a little throttle while trying to start it it may speed up the process of starting the car. recently my father had changed the spark plugs thinking this could be the reason but the same problem occours, not really sure of what the cause could be, but if anyone has an idea on to what the reason could be i would truely appreciate it.
cheers
Luke

This was kinda covered several times. Could be the battery on its way out, could be the connectors under the dash on the driver side (near the door). From memory there is a certain connector that can have a bad contact. Cleaning it can fix the issue. Not sure what else it could be.
Im sure some others will have similar / other suggestions.

Check battery. Top up with de-min water. Sorted my Magna.

Actually mine does this once in a while. If you look under the dash next to the steering wheel there is a black box which is just hanging and at the base of it closest to the floor there is a plug, try pushing that plug hard back into the black box and that may help it.
This has been covered a few times and a loose connection between the BEM and the immobiliser turned out to be the cause. The fix was to solder the connection directly in but me having zero electrical ability stick to just pushing the connection really hard.

mine did it for a while. there is a small 2 wire plug that comes out of the key barrel and that connection can cause this to happen. Just unplug it and bend the connectors a bit to make a better contact. This could be your problem

could be the battery, but could also be the immoboliser wire running from the BEM to the ECU
theres a page running around on how to fix it
may also be the contacts on the ignition stalk

We so should make this topic a sticky, as it seems to come up again and again and again..
Personally, I had this issue, and the imob wiring connection described in the link from earlier solved the problem and it's not happened again since (just under 12 months ago it was)
