ok so the TR is starting to run a little hot and found the problem to be the radiator fan. got that replaced and still no worky :S

when the AC turns on both the main fan and AC fan turn on so i know the fan is working. but under normal running conditions the fan does not turn on.

no idea where to look at. iv checked all the fuses and they are all fine. is there like some kind of a sensor thing that kicks the fan over when the car runs hot that i need to look at?

help

There is a temp sender near your top radiator hose that you can take out and test. the procedure is in the workshop manual, best to have a multimeter with a thermometer function built in as your measuring the resistance of the unit to see if its within range

either that or grab another one from the wreckers and try your luck

before you do that, swap your relay for another one in the fusebox. more often than not these die and you dont even know. this ones FREE to try...

Please place this in the right section next time, is a second gen question, not tech torque

Mate, is most likely your relay for your fans, is a very common issue

If you want to drop by I can give you one and you can give me my remote while you are there :)

hi have you checked the fan controller that is screwed to the fan shroud on the passenger side
the black box that the fans plug into these have been known to die on one side

ashneel,

this has happened to me twice, once it was the thermo fan switch, the other time it was the relay. If you haven't already checked these, that's where i'd start ;)

Sounds like a trip to Mals for a coffee and a pizza as well as a few parts.

lol if i could get the car there ye that will be awesome lol.

its too cold to stand infront of the car trying to look for it. if someone can tell me where it is and what it is i am looking for i can get it sorted :)

The Max Ellery 91-2005 Magna/Verada books mentions a thermo sensor (switch)mounted adjacent to the bottom radiator hose.

Hey, I have been having the same problem from time to time with my 93 TR, get a new fan sensor they are 6-8 bucks so worth changing out anyways. I also did not have a thermostat in my car so I replaced that as well.

the car no longer over heats but I have never seen the fan turn on, even after a highway drive I will park the car and let it run, engine temp stays at half way on the gauge. never moves and no fan. This is for a 2.6L any ways.

thread mine

well the thermo fans on my TR arn't comming on by them selves, i have to turn the a/c on to keep it cool when in trafic, which is the relay for the fans in the engine bay

To all the second gen owners, do your selves all a favour and get the first gen plastic relays, these are much more relaiable and not prone to burn out like the metal cap ones in the second gen
