i had a look at TH verada today, engine had a tappety sound after it warmed up. also had the oil light flashing on and off randomly, and sometimes staying on too. oil looked a bit black, but was fullish and car ran fine. after about a 15km round trip the tappet noise was quite loud and i wasnt game to keep driving incase of any serious issues.
is the oil light for low pressure, or could there be a blockage in the top end causing high pressure? or something else.
any help would be muchly appreciated.
thanks.

Oil light is for low pressure. Blockage in the top end = no lubrication = noisy top end = oil pressure relief valve opening to dump excess oil to sump.
This is only practical if you own the car but fitting an oil pressure gauge is a good way to see what pressure the engine is running at whilst driving. The engine could have anything from dirty oil, the wrong grade of oil in it, a blocked filter that doesn't have a by pass valve fitted, a worn oil pump, worn bearing etc.
How many km had the engine done?
