Ok so I want to do something about the sound of my car, it is all stock and sounds pretty girly, so should I just get a muffler or a complete exhaust system?
How much would I be looking at for the exhaust system?
Also my car seems to change gears in between 1000 and 2000 RPM - is this normal?
Even when you give it accelerator it takes forever to go from 1000 to 2000 RPM and then change gears.
Anything I can do about this?
Thankyou.

2.5" Catback exhaust systems are pretty popular on here. They cost around $350, which is for the muffler and all the piping. Search the forums for 'lukey' or 'berklee' as these seem to be the most popular types of mufflers. I have a 2.5" catback system on mine with the lukey LR2779 and I love it! It gives a nice note.
If you have the money and want to splash out a bit, some pacemaker headers (Or Rpw etc..) are an option....
Cant really help with your gearing problem...

As above, just get a catback system, would go Lukey personally as stated around 400 cat back fitted with stock tip
Transmission wise:
Depending on when your transmission has had a service, I'd get the Oil flushed and Filter changed, and also the bands adjusted... Or you could reset the ECU and drive around rather conservative for 10 minutes, see if it helps, I did all this and my transmission is better

lol AFAIK everyone's ECU reset takes 10 minutes. more then enough time for the little caps to discharge any power left in them.

Of course it takes longer, what I'm saying is, take it out for a drive... don't be ripping the **** out of it within the first ten minutes
Last time I looked over about Trans ECU reset it said to drive on constant revs, ensuring gear changes from 2-3 at 45-55 km/h repeat 5 times

Personallly i'd just put a 2.5" inlet cannon on it as the muffler is the most restricted thing on your exhaust (the stock exhaust is pretty decent on the 3rd gen) the cannon will give you 5+ kw & sound, cheapest way too, though it will be loud, but if you don't want it too loud, get a sports muffler like lukey, redback, perry, there is lots to choose from, but also depends if you want to do more to your car & spends thousands???

Are you seriously recommending someone put a cannon on a magna :doubt: Every magna i have heard with a cannon on sounds like a very very wet fart, as for the 5 kw gain with the cannon if you put any of the common mufflers on i.e redback, lukey you will get the exact same gains without the fart sound.
Also if you search the forums you will get all the answers on this topic.

Actually mine didn't have the fart when the rest of my exhaust was stock, everyone on the magna cruises love the noise actually :P it was later when i added pacemakers, hi flow cat & 2.5" exhaust with a 3" inlet cannon then it became farty, plus me spending almost $1500 on the whole system, it wasn't worth the poor performance gain i got out of it, but yeah if the guy wants loud, go cannon, if you want slightly louder then stock, go sports muffler (sports muffler will keep it stockish looking & you won't have to worry about cops maybe defecting you all the time lol) but both will give you the extra 5+ kw

Cannons are terrible on skylines and supras let alone Magnas, do not do it to yourself, even if you can pick up a 15" inch cannon from Autobarnz for 50 bucks
With the stock piping and resonator and just replacing the rear muffler with cannon sound very nice.

guess i should be banned then eh? :doubt:
i've got a magnaflow cannon on my car and it gives out a awesome note
none of this wet fart/raspy or ricey crap
hell it even sounded better when the extractors and hi-flow cat went on
if you leave the stock resonator on (box after the cat) then it'll sound fine
but this is for a manual, auto will be droney as hell

Sedans have the bolt on Lukey that is around 240 I think, can be got from Autobarn, I think its 3 bolts?
Wagons must be custom fitted, not bolt on exhaust

Just a note, it doesn't come with a tip! For around 100 you can get one welded on (chrome etc)
