Hey, Last night I drove into a fence and damaged my door, smashed my mirror and the front quarter panel on the right hand side, I went out today and purchased a new mirror and a new quarter panel off a 3.5 ltr TJ and i own a TE I've been told there is no difference, but I wanted to know if there was because ive put the quarter panel on its flush with all the screw holes but where the edge joins the windscreen there is a gap about 1.5cms wide, and on the opposite side it appears to be flush with no gap. I was wondering if the quarter panel on a TJ is a different size to a TE.

they are all the same size... but as it would have come off the floor at a different time, the two will be different sizes (but its unintentional)

It should bolt straight on and match up fairly evenly. The mechanics drove into a pole in my TF and repaired it with a 1/4 panel from a TJ. You may have bent something causing such a large gap.

Yeah they are they same.

They're made with a panel stamp. There isn't really a variation in sizes. Your explanation makes no sense

So your saying mitsubishi aren't consistant in the dimensions of panels they produce, so maybe the night shift robots 'unintentionally' made slightly smaller panels

Agree that something else less obvious is bent mate, have a dig around is the best bet

They are the same. Changed more fenders in the factory than i can remember. How's the gap from the rear edge of the fender to the front edge of the door?
Loosen off all the bolts till you get it right. Also check for sealant or some other crap that maybe interfering.
You guys would be suprised at how "adjustments on panels are made on the line...Rubber mallets, metal bars for bending brackets, twist here and there etc.

Its all flush. Except for that gap from the panel going down the side of the windscreen it's about 1.5 cm gap compared to the other side.

I just replaced the quarter panel on my TJ and it's just a matter of pushing and bending as you tighen the screws..

They kinda change shape when not under tension so you have to (gently) use your hip or something to push the bow out of the panel as you tighten the bolts.

You'll prolly notice that the straight edge of the panel protrudes from the line of the door a little.. push it in with the bolts loosened and you see it all line up. Bit tricky but there's alot of play when the panel is loose.

Good luck!
