Hey All.
I saw recently that someone was asking how to remove windscreen wipers. And then i remembered that i needed to repaint mine so i got off my bum today and did a lil quick tutorial.

So you start by popping your bonnet so you can access the bolts that hold the wipers on.
http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k111/presti_01/IMGP7045.jpg

Remove the bolt with a socket or shifter.
http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k111/presti_01/IMGP7046.jpg

To remove the wiper, depress slighly where the bend is on the wiper (there is a spring on the opposite side. You should feel an 'up and down' movement if you push it.) Do not push it all the way down, but just slightly then pull the wiper towards you. If you are having difficulty, drip the wiper from the base, part closest to where the bolt was removed and depress again slightly whilst wiggling the wiper towards you.

**NOTE**
Remember which wiper is which. If you do forget, the shorter wiper foes infront of the driver and the longer one is for the passenger side one.

Remove both wipers and inspect/clean area.

http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k111/presti_01/IMGP7050.jpg

Sand the damaged area's back. Lightly apply a few cotes of paint and clear coat the top.

Allow to dry then reconnect

When you are reconnecting wipers, make sure that you line them up with the dirt on the windscreen. Tighten the bolts and run your wipers to make sure they all line up and hit the same spots as before

This is also a significant mod for those who are wanting more HP and top end speed.

When wipers are removed you improve your top speed as you have lost alot of weight. Plus your aerodynamics are improved, so you will be able to run easy 8-9 second 1/4 miles. ;)

BUT if it rains, your will have to make sure you can drive faster than water falls so your car doesn't get wet as you wont be able to see.

Regarding driving faster when raining without wipers... don't have to drive faster necessarily. Just use RainX. That stuff works wonders and repells rain really well :D

Unless you use self-priming paint (like engine enamel which is great paint BTW) make sure your prime the area first, if the surface is pitted use high build primer (septone make it, cream colored stuff)

Or, go out and buy some Bosch aerotwins aswell and have super sexy wiper arms
please dont tell me you used that $3 crap lol

Completed.

Plz excuse the crappy quality photos, my camera is Out of Order atm, phone is all I had :(

Click Here to view the unbelievable Twin Turbo power device I used to help the drying process when it got a bit cold outside!! (Until of course I realised hanging them inside where its heated was easier.) (http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r161/rhys_fairall/AMC/16062009_005.jpg)

I'm sure the "Ceramic AND Ionic" turbo-device has imparted a lasting lift and shine to your wiper arms. How many Killerwasps (at the seat of the pants) has that added, do ya reckon?

Agree with Presti, the wiper blades do look good, are they Aerotwins?

Had them for some time now (probably 15months), getting due for new refills, but bloody oath are they good wipers. Funny to be impressed by such a thing but they do leave you pretty amazed when you compare them to what you replaced.

Not sure of that question myself. There seems to be an end cap on them but I'm not sure if that cap comes off, one would assume so as the blade has to get into the assembly somehow....try that..

I'm gonna say yes, only because I've seen Aerotwin refills at the shops lol

Are your wipers quieter with those aerotwin things?

I figure being a one piece kinda design they would be more sturdy and less 'slap slap', damn i hate that

They don't "slap" (I'm presuming by "slap" you mean the noise they make when they change directions) and they don't squeak. They are completely silent. The only noise I hear is the sound of the wiper motor if I've got the stereo off.

You buy them from supercheap, autobarn and the likes. I got them from Tuffy when he worked at Supercheap personally.

Awesome, i love little things like this that make my car more enjoyable

I just put new rubber back blades on instead of the plastic back ones which made it alot quieter, but still makes some noise.

yeahh i know, well as i mentioned wipers off you must gain atleast 40kw's so run easy 7-8second 1/4 miles so with the downforce, i rekon you could do atleast 180kp/h around a corner no problem :woot: lol haha
