thanks to the most lovely spray painter Jesse james, I now have some perfectly shaved (the raised lettering removed and all) nicely tinted tail lights that are glossy as and look classy and subtle. And for all those wondering, yes the brake lights and blinkers do show through just fine yay!.
Gotta hand it to Jesse, ive never seen such a glossy and flawless finish.

before and after... light on left is after obviously

Sand paper would probably do it.

Sand paper would probably do it.Yeah, I saw an internet site with instructions on this once (can't find it now :doubt:). The guy used sandpaper starting from course to fine then cut&polish compounds then finnally a perspex polish I think.
Cass, how'd you do it?

Brasso on a buffing attachment for a drill brings plastic up a treat.

ask jesse james he did them for me.
Yes you can see blinkers fine. i was going to tint the whole tail light, jesse suggested doing it half keeping the red bit, he was spot on.

Looks good, should do it on mine aswell to match my front tinted blinkers. Good idea getting those little bits of trim painted aswell. Another thing i should do aswell.

All you need on the rear now is a nice shiny twin tip muffler and i will look complete.

Hey mate!
To you and all the rest interested in shaving the letters off,i started by using 240 dry on a air sander then went to 320 wet,600 wet,1200 wet then finished it with 1500 wet and grey scotch brite wet to get any bits i missed.
If you want to achieve this without reclearing like i did with cass's lights, start with 320 dry on a air sander then 600 wet,1200 wet,1500 wet then finish with 2000 wet then give a good buff with a medium grade cutting compound then a nice polish, easy as!
If anyone has any enquiries or would like to know more, just PM me,always happy to help!

Me laughing? Never!

Personally i don't like the look of the ts rear, but kudos for the effort! In saying this I would be interested to see this done on a verada tailight set up like my own and tuffy's but i don't have the time nor the money to replace the tailights incase i stuff it up:P

i thought id ask if you considered removing the reflectors inside the light itself? Its a very common mod to make s15's look more sleek and your car defintely looks sleek as.

I have a broken taillight im going to try this on, although not such a dark tint i think for me. Looks tops as. Congrats and thanks for sharing

Wagon lights arent as big and depends on the condition of the ones you have.
I would say it would set ya back under $100,i've never priced doing it as i've never worked out the materials but it will probably cost less,PM me if ya really keen and i'll work it out for ya but i use high quality stuff so no dodgey stuff goin on :)
If anyone else is interested,PM me aswell as i would rather do little bits at a time to keep the quality at a high standard.

Wouldn't suggest this unless you're happy to drive in an with an illegal mod. The reflectors have to be there for the tail lights to pass any sort of inspection or get passed any cops with eagle eyes. You can get a light tint on your tails and still have the reflectors work but it can be difficult.

Check out the light tint on mine... http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64399

3 coats of the night shade then 2 really wet coats of 2pak clear,be confident when you put on 2 wet coats as plastic doesnt like to hang onto clear as well as a prepared panel on a car.
I can do these tinted lights for anyone at a fair price aslong as the light(s) are in good condition but you have to remember that i use high quality material so you'll be happy with every cent you spend :woot:

I could probably do em for a cheaper price but i would wanna do a few items at the same time as to run a spray booth just for 2 side markers are a bit silly but if anyone needs little things done, you'll be able to throw it in the bunch but i dont make any money out of this as i give the contribution to the boss to cover materials and booth time, etc.
