I have a 05 Magna ES, and would like to know how much mileage there would be when the petrol light comes on? I have order a manaul so I won't have to ask silly questions :)

Depends when the petrol light comes on.....

With mine (97 auto) it comes on just above the E line. Usually thats enough for another 20km-30km around town before I really really need to be in a servo....

it depends, i've gotten about 120km out of my tj once the lights come on. had to roll the last little bit down the hill to the servo though lol

Is a really bad idea to drive on the fuel light as this is when you will often get a lot of the gunk out of the tank sucked up and pumped into the fuel filter

Try to top up when at a quater tank

Also can lead to lean out if cornering as the pump can run dry as the fuel has all gone over one side of the tank, Magna's do have a decent swirl pot set up but at the rate fuel pumps this empties fairly fast

Agreed, usually I try to refill at a 1/4 BUT the last few weeks i've been extremely low on money so i've had to make it last to wednesdays when I get paid, and last week I actually got over 100kms from when the petrol light first came on to when I put some in (no doubt I almost ran out).

How bad is it for the engine if it cuts out going around a corner or something due to fuel starvation? This has happened to me a few times lately...

Thanks guys, the light has just come on, the distance meter said I had about 170k yesterday and I have only done about 20k since then, I will be heading to my nearest petrol station (about 15ks away).

I've run mine quite low before when the fuel lights been on, usually do about 30km or so on the fuel light before I start having small issues like stalling if I corner too hard lol I try to make a habit of filling up before the fuel light even comes on but sometimes it can't be avoided.

Last time my fuel light came on I drove another 120km (Pete's place and back lol ) and still had about 10L in the tank when I filled up.

In my experience I have about 20L in my tank when the fuel light comes on. I have a TL Manual.

yeah, i was wondering how much fuel u need to have left in the tank before the fuel pump pickup starts missing it (ie: is the fuel pick up right at the bottom of the tank etc).

because my fuel light comes on after around 49-52L used... which leaves around 21-18L still in the tank.
Theoretically thats another 200+k's still in the tank.

I'd also like to note my trip computer's fuel usage readout is very close to my actual usage shown when I fillup, out by less than 1L. Tend to go on what it says rather than the gauge, since it shows half empty only 25L in lol

The light on my TL AWD comes on with about 20ltrs left in the tank, ie over a quarter full, but gauge is showing empty and I generally go another 100-130 km before refilling. Most I have ever got in refilling was 64ltr, but usually takes about 55-57ltr.

yeah same here guys in my TJ 2002 it has about 20L left when the petrol light comes on

I usually fill up when the 2nd fuel light comes on. Had a dedicated gas TW that let out a rather loud low warning alarm once as I pulled into the garage and it still had 10 ltrs in the tank.

my fuel is just about at the E line, how much km can i get out of it before it petrol line comes on, i have Series 1, 3.0 L

I hate that fuel light. Get a panic attack when it comes on. lol So I outsmart it. I put $20 of fuel in whenever I get down to a quarter tank. Keeps the little man in the fuel tank who turns the light on quite happy. lol
